“he first came out talking about trapping and selling Molly, doing all that.”

    He frowns. “That’s wack, bro.”

he’s not wrong tho. one time i tried to buy molly from a gay dude and it was nearly impossible. i was driven back by some fabulous force; it might have been the way he was open about his sexuality, but I think it was deeper than that, like some sort of natural law. gays simply cant sell molly.

They can’t sell it but they can sure rob the shit out of some dope boys.

      The Wire taught us that.

This can’t be surprising to anyone. Gangsta rap from the early 90's to early 2000s was filled with those references.

Hell, the Cube-Dre-Easy feud was nearly endless songs about being secretly gay.

Homo/transphobia runs RAMPANT in the black community yet people are suprised when Kim Burrell or Migos go off on a homophobic rant. Cut the B.S! Thats why I don’t take homophobic black people crying about racism seriously. You don’t want oppression for yourself, but you are completely fine with dishing it out to your gay brother or sister.

Honestly, I’m just shocked they made a publicist-style apology for this issue. That’s not something I ever thought I’d see a black rapper do.

Like, maybe I’m wrong, but did folks like Jay-Z and Nas back in (most of our) formative years ever make an album without taking some homophobic shot at another dude? Ever?

So I guess that’s a bit of a win. It’s not as good as an actually repentant apology, or just not being homophobic, but we’re moving ever forward, hopefully.

No, I am not surprised by homophobia. What I am surprised by is that this group is famous enough for this bit of ignorance to become a thing.

Every black person reading this has a family member or someone they love who lives outside our traditional ideas of gender norms.

“This world is not right,” Takeoff says. “We ain’t saying it’s nothing wrong with the gays,”

    Huh. K.

My brother has told me some stories of this sort of thing (both of his longest-term relationships were/are with black men), but I’ve never encountered it in person. Online, sure, but who the fuck can tell who is/isn’t being sincere.

or the social justice warriors who scour the internet looking for a microscopic molehill outrage to make into a mountain

Wait, hold up, stop the presses, etc.

...are we finally ready to recognize that the group mentioned above exists!? If so, HUZZAH! I’ma dance a jig.

Also, I know this is besides the point, but aren’t Migos from a Georgia suburb or something? Like how are they gonna try and question someone’s authenticity as a rapper?
