People don’t show respect to Trump because he doesn’t respect others. How is that so hard for them to understand?

If his administration would stop lying and saying bad things about Blacks, immigrants, LGBT, women, and everyone else I missed then he would be treated with respect. Literally, that’s all people want from the Trump administration. Stop lying. Stop offending Americans. A lot of people gave him a chance, and he dropped a bomb on that olive branch.

      Yup.

Also, you start with a basic amount of respect for a person’s status as a human individual, but anything more than that is earned. And when a person refuses to respect the human dignity of others, they lose that basic level of respect because they have denied it to others.

Oh you mean like calling every single person that you run into the voting for Donald Trump a white supremacist and a racist. Is that how you start off by respecting people and having some dignity. I’m American Indian and I’ve been called the white supremacist at least a hundred times in the last year yeah that goes over real well with me considering that my ancestors were killed by white people. Don’t even get to know me first they just immediately call me a white supremacist as soon as I open my mouth. as soon as they realize I don’t agree with them. Then they feel absolutely retarded when I tell them I’m Sioux Indian. why don’t you all give somebody a chance to talk or defend ourselves before you start labeling them.

I’ve seen a lot of people saying that they shouldn’t let her on the air at CNN because she “isn’t credible” and is “spewing propaganda”. I know CNN was contemplating not letting her on the air for same as well.

Those are two things that are true, however, what she has to say remains newsworthy, as it is either evidence of what Trump himself thinks or if it isn’t, the fact that one of the President’s closest advisers isn’t in lock step with him remains newsworthy.

I’d also argue that if CNN is going to wrangle her as effectively as Tapper did here, then getting her on the air is a huge win for everyone.

I absolutely do not think she should be on air. She has plenty of airtime on Fox. CNN can report on her talking points without giving her airtime, which I would argue gives her some sort of credibility. Also, this is the same network that gave us Jeffrey (not our) Lord (nor our Savior), Scootie Death Knell Hughes, and Kayleeeeeeeeeeeeeee Mackadiddy. Bannon has yet to be on CNN but CNN reports on his actions daily. The same can be done for ConArtist.

To Tapper’s credit, he has consistently held ConArtist and her ilk to the fire. So if CNN wants to give her airtime, it should most definitely be with Tapper. Cooper has been heavy-handed and so has Cuomo. Cuomo’s summer dragging of Paul Manafort remains one of my favorite moments of the election season.

ConArtist is just as dangerous as Bannon. The shit she spouts is perceived as less threatening because she is a blonde white woman (though some of us are not fooled by this shit). Let’s stay focused on this, she is just as monstrous.

The fact that she isn’t “credible” shouldn’t drive the decision.

What matters is why she isn’t credible. If she’s not credible because she does not in fact speak in sync with the Trump Administration, then yes, you make a good point.

If she’s not credible because the Trump administration’s communications strategy is to spew a constant stream of lies, falsehoods, quarter-truths & disingenuous arguments, then that’s a different discussion.

To the extent that she is a central part of said communications strategy (which by all accounts she not only remains so, but is actually becoming even more central to it in the last week) , then making sure she gets on the air so that CNN’s professionals can corner the administration on said falsehoods, quarter-truths & disingenuous arguments, is like, the purified essence of what “The Press” is supposed to be doing. That’s the most important reason we venerate their protection in the First Amendment.

I am incredibly nervous that Conway is making an apology circuit right now. This is what Trump’s admin does. Make’s enemies...then acts all nicey nicey and suddenly they’re right back in.

CNN can’t let Conway off the hook. Bringing her on to do this is a good start, and perhaps never letting her back on would be a natural continuation.

“Thanks for admitting you lied, now kindly find somewhere else to lie in the future because we’re done with that nonsense.”

And Tomi Lahren is their past life ghost.

I’m sure there’s a factory somewhere where they pump them out.

(So I actually wasn’t wondering; I just wanted to promote your comment and also to say that.)

Conway is still the same dishonest, ill-equipped and unqualified harridan she has always been. She’s just trying a new tact because being a See You Next Tuesday with the press is hard to pull off when you have been caught lying about massacres on multiple occasions.
But my biggest problem with what she said in the Tapper interview (and she was still just big an obfuscating liar as always) was her throwaway mention about asset seizure/asset forfeiture from Trump’s meeting with the nation’s sheriffs.
The fact that when in an audience with POTUS the main issue on that Texas sheriff’s mind was that a state senator was looking to make asset seizure’s more difficult for the police scare the hell out of me.
So for a top WH advisor to even mention asset forfieture out of all the things discussed at that meeting should unsettle everyone. Because Donald Trump is like a small child with ADD who drinks 12 Big Gulps a day...he latches on to one thing that catches his attention and if he decides that the best and fastest way to help the police is to push even more aggressive asset seizure laws then life is about to get even more shitty for a lot of people in this country.

It was a very good interview by Tapper. He was measured, thoughtful and stuck to the key points and facts. Conway is a very talented person. I cannot help but wonder how much longer she can stand banging her head on the wall trying to defend the indefensible.

A friend of mine with a psych masters thinks she’s got a multiple personality disorder; she compartmentalizes and pivots so fast and is so oppositional on top of all the compulsive lying.

(And when you look at it laid out on the page like that, that’s a credible theory, right ...?)

This. Regardless of how “tough” or “severe” Tapper or his fans think he was, putting this grotesque harpy on the air, even for her failing attempts at deflection or damage control, just ultimately normalizes her and her behaviors. Even if she is roasted, once people see her appearing on major networks long enough they will begin to view her as legitimate, even if only subconsciously and in a sort of lowest common denominator kind of way. You simply don’t put her on the air, ever, period.
