This gives me hope?
The politics are so stupid for this move. Who would have cared if Warren read the letter? “Democrat says harsh but true things about Trump nominee” is dog-bites-man these days. It would get maybe a few hours in a clickbait sidebar and then disappear.
Now it’s a “cover-up” story about arrogance and overreach, and gets a lot more coverage. How did McConnell possibly think this was a good play? It’s like he’s asking himself, “what can I do today to keep the outrage fires burning?”

  I’m sure he thought on the one hand he had nothing to lose by being his craven, corrupt, racist self — his wife has been confirmed as Transportation Secretary so I’m sure they’ve positioned themselves to mop up their millions.
  If we have our way for 2018, tho - that’ll be his last time as Majority Leader — and well past time, too, for the Yertle.
  I can’t stand his hypocrisy - how is he going to call Senator Warren out on a point of procedure when just last week he ramrodded two Cabinet appointees through Committee without a quorum who had perjured themselves during their hearings, and told the press that it would be his mission to stymie President Obama’s SCOTUS appointments no matter how well-qualified the judges were?
  (And BTW - does anybody know why he didn’t face some serious criminal obstruction charges for that? I have never quite understood it.)

They used lies, gerrymandering, voter suppression, assistance from Russian hackers, fake news, information leaks, and every dirty underhanded trick to get here, but here they are.
