She doesn’t have to lead him. Come on, Elder Waters - don’t let the Democratic Leadership make you the sacrificial lamb here.

    Let him hang himself.

It’s not *only* a matter of principle that any political appointee – let alone an admitted anarchic Leninist like Bannon – should not be on the National Security Council. Title U.S.C. 50 §3021(a)(6) says the Executive cannot appoint anyone to any chair on that council without “advise and consent of the Senate”.

Trump therefore was in violation of that statute when he made that appointment.

And then – for him to go one step further and admit out loud he didn’t even read the EO naming Bannon to that Council?

How is that not egregious dereliction of duty rising to the level of impeachable offense for an Executive claiming to govern as President of the United States?? And how is it not a further unconstitutional abrogation of responsibility if Senate and House Majority Leadership FAIL to vote to impeach him if they already know about all that???

Everybody else reading here knows the unending avalanche of other horrendous things he’s done.

Speaking of which – anybody know whether or not that SDNY federal judge has ruled yet on whether CREW has satisfactorily established standing to sue to enjoin “Benedict Donald” from violating the Emoluments Clause? With son Eric the Vampire jetting down to Uruguay & back, and sending the taxpayers the bill for his Secret Service security and his hotel amenities, while he sends us back Tweets with little Trump properties on them?

Come on, Signora Pelosi – what are you waiting for? Putin and the Angel of Death to come to brunch?

    /come ON, now

Excellent points, across the board. From my perspective, it was incumbent upon Trump to prove the morning of Jan. 20 that he was NOT in violation of the emoluments clause. Every day that he reigns without clearing up that issue is a day that he is an illegitimate president and should be removed.

I really wish that the Dems would quit sending up warning flares. The people surrounding the psycho in chief are far more craven & controlled than he is, & they need to be allowed to plow the jet into the side of the mountain. If anyone plans to “do something” about this guy, in order for it to be effective, it’s best he (or moreso, the people surrounding him) doesn’t see it coming. Frankly, I hope that whatever brings him down ties Pence & Bannon into it- & he’s a real bitch, so he might just put their cards in the deck once he sees the house is taking his last chips, & kicking him out of his comped room. He’s wilder than a turkey, & I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near his ass when shit starts really unraveling for him. He is not the kind to burn at the stake alone. Dignity. What’s THAT?

He could lead us to the gates of hell, but unless republicans get on board he’s not getting impeached. And so far they seem fairly content to let it all burn in the hopes they can sneak in some legislation before he does something so damaging there’s no turning back.

Bingo, as long as you have control over the the one that can initiate the process, it will never happen.

You can if you successfully force them under threat of unconstitutional violation of their own responsibilities.

I confess I’m a little ... puzzled ... at the Eeyore brigade who appears to just roll over and give up so easily.

Were you arguing before last week there was nothing that could be done to enjoin his Muslim ban too?

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who was also at the news conference Monday, said that impeachment would only be an issue if Trump breaks the law.

Pelosi added, “When and if he breaks the law, that is when something like that would come up, but that is not the subject of today.”

I think someone needs to be taught what a “constitution” is???

      Emphatically agreed.

I’m really more than a little tired of people - Congresspeople or otherwise - who are all “We can’t!!” and no backbone (and apparently few research skills either).

Frederick Douglass has been quoted a thousand times this week - dead or alive, LOL. They’re not going to roll over and hand it to you. You have to fight for it.

The GOP has shown us that they value party over country. Trump would have be caught on video with a dead boy hooker in Putin’s spare bedroom and then they might consider impeachment.

Americans may have to wait till 2018 for some seats to open up for possible party switch.

“I have not called for the impeachment yet. He’s doing it to himself,”

He can’t impeach himself, though, so you’re going to have to step up sooner or later.

Ms. Waters is a treasure, and her words and actions should be cheered all the time in order to give space for her to continue her rhetoric and allow other Dems to act accordingly.
