It’s bothered me how many people have no idea about East Indians in the Caribbeans, as if they don’t exist or contribute to the great cultures. It’s usually portrayed as Afro/Black but never of any East Indians. People always seem shocked and surprised when they learn that there are tons of Hindus and Muslims in the Caribbean islands, too. I am South Asian and I really want to visit Suriname, Guyana and T&T, to witness the wealth and beauty of Afro-Indo-Carib / Christian-Islamic-Hindu culture(s) fusion. My friend even worked with a black Christian guy whose name was Muhammad and he was from T&T. That was the first time I ever known of anybody named Muhammad who wasn’t born and raised Muslim....
