this should take about fifteen minutes

HECK THAT. Using your toaster for that long is something I wouldn’t recommend doing unless you’re watching it. There’s something about hot metal and wiring combining with all that melting sugar, on a counter top, that just reminds me of fire for some reason.

As noted after the jump (because no one seems to ever read the actual pieces), you can do this in the oven if you’re like me and the idea does you a frighten:

You can also use the oven, which is especially handy if you’re making a lot of toast at once. Crank your oven up to 450°F and then either place your sweet potato slices directly on the grates or on a sheet pan and flip every 5 minutes or so until they’re nicely browned on the outside and soft inside, about 15 to 20 minutes total.

I’m willing to bet the rack/cookie sheet method would work just as well under a broiler for a most generous crisping, since broilers are essentially a controlled-hellfire that can also be a handy way to cook your eggs.

      Yeah, this method seems dangerous.

Yeah, and the more you use the toaster, the more any sugar/syrup/carbon will build up over time and have a chance to ignite. Even with regular cleaning (LIKE YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO DO, KAREN) you can’t get into the entire toaster to spot shine it.

It looks good! Don’t get me wrong. But I strongly recommend the oven to par roast, and then a broil finish to crisp.
