Being Toyota, I’m sure the propeller would fall off, and Toyota would not honor their warranty and fix it.

My very lovely female friend is in litigation with Toyota over her lemon law Corolla.

Toyotas been a shithead about her badly built car for 2 years now.

As a happy Toyota owner, and on my families 3rd one, i cannot be more pissed at them for selling her a piece of junk then not taking responsibility for said piece of junk car.

Toyota is screwing my friend with the lemon they sold her.

I think the purpose of this is to patent a technology that Toyota will be actually using while throwing up a bunch of crazy red herrings to distract from it. This makes it harder for competitors to figure out what Toyota is planning and start on their own solutions. I would suspect that most of this patent is useless save one or two features.

If I’m wrong and they do put this into production, I’ll take one wagon in black.

This was my thought exactly. I bet the real patent has something to do with the “shape morphing”. I could see a system like that having some kind of real world applications for altering the aerodynamic properties of the car for different speeds/driving conditions to optimize fuel efficiency (or EV range). The flying car stuff is probably just there to confuse and detract from the actual technology that’s being developed.

The wooden propellor on the back makes it look like a flying car drawn in my notebook during elementary school

I can see no downside to a giant rear-mounted propeller while driving on the road.

Of course there is literally no possible way for it to function... so why patent it? Perhaps it’s the shape-shifting skin bit they actually want on the record.

I like that the propellor is apparently wooden. Good choice. It reminds me of their old RV-2 concept, but for flying instead of camping.
