In a snow storm! In the mountains! Over hostile territory, blind folded, uphill.....both ways! High on cocaine. Okay maybe I over exaggerated a bit.

NASA GL-10: Osprey... can I ask you a question?

    Osprey: Sure, what is it?

GL-10: Do you know who my father is....?

Osprey: Well... When I was young B-52 and I had a sordid affair in the back of a tech ware house. We aren’t proud of what we did. But we love you just the same. We were going to tell you when you were older and weaponized.

Gizmodo calls your 2 rotor tilt wing and raises you a TEN rotor tilt Wing and tilt Tail.

The proximity of those rotor-tips to the fuselage still makes me a bit worried!

Also, never having heard one, is the Osprey as loud as I imagine?

Probably louder than you could imagine haha. In helicopter mode you can quite literally hear it destroying the air around itself.

How catastrophic is an Osprey landing if its wings get stuck in the forward flight position? That’s a lot of propellor to dig in.

Yeah, they are composites so you basically end up with a bunch of string. They break but not many pieces fly off.

Navy fixed-wing aircraft have similar lighting strips located at various points, mainly for ground handling crew reference/safety:
