600MB Compressed - Expands to 2.8 gig After Ketarin Update

So less time than most mp3s. Even on my SLOW DSL, I can start the download, go to the kitchen to make coffee, and the d/l will be dome by the time I'm back w/ the 1st cup.

It might be lots of Lifehacker readers downloading the toolkit. It's large: 700+ Meg.

No bittorrent link? That might help alleviate the site traffic.

Just a heads up, many of the built in tools trigger Malware and Antivirus warnings. More or less the hackey nature of some of the tools being included such as Browser password crackers and such.

Good point. It's in the documentation for the tool, but it's nice to remind people too.

This looks really cool. It's also free, which the article neglects to mention. I'm off to find a 4 gb flashdrive. This could be a good supplement to my "portable apps" drive. It looks like most of the common "portable apps" programs, plus all the nirsoft utilities and a linux based virus/anti-malware program. The only problem I have w/ my "portable apps" drive is REMEMBERING to plug it in to do updates BEFORE I actually need to use it. I fear I will have the same issue with this toolkit. Despite its auto-updating abilities, you actually have to PLUG IN the drive to have it searched. Until they invent the psychic updater that can run on a drive that's at the bottom of my purse, I'll need to remember to dig that sucker out BEFORE I find I need it. :)

Sounds like what's needed is a USB drive that works independent of an OS. It would have LIon that charges when you plug it in to a system. It would also have a Wi-Fi antenna built in. The user could set it to auto poll for updates to software you have on the drive. Probably a bit of a stretch. 😁

Sounds like a kickstarter in the making. Let me know when you get it up, as I want in. :)

It is not bootable, but you can use it in combo with a bootable CD. Since the apps are portable, they need not be installed.

You mean like one flashdrive for the OS? and one for the APPS? You guys should do a write up on burning a version of tinyxp with this toolkit on it or a modified version of BARTpe or something. Actually I should do it, make you guys link to me, steal the web traffic, and use the money generated to take over the world.... just saying

Can someone set up a mirror or a torrent? Host site is suffering from the Lifehacker effect.

Not bad. Pair this with a bootable rescue disk and you've basically got a Geek Squad MRI toolset at home.

This is pretty sweet, but why did they have to use comic sans as their font of choice?

Is there any reason when I check for updates, the Ketrin keeps saying there is an update?
