One other note, ignore the # listed before each command in the printable above when typing it into the terminal.

      ^^THIS^^

I found that bit very annoying as people new to Linux and the command line would not know the hash signifies the prompt.

On another note who is going to print a cheat sheet where 75% of the page is black!

Here is my take on a printer friendly version of the cheat sheet.

Edit: I also have this saved as a PDF if needed.

I just wear my Linux Cheat Sheet T-shirt. It's upside-down so you can read it while you wear it. http://store-xkcd-com.myshopify.com/products/linux…

    (Seriously I own this)

I use Ubuntu for very basic things and usually getting files of hosed Windows machines. I wish I knew more but even the help (like this one) are infuriating. I often read instructions that tell me to type some commands and don't bother telling me where. I guess I'm just supposed to know.

You type them in the Teriminal app that came with your Linux distribution. If you're just starting out, I recommend checking out our beginner's night school to Linux.

Probably worth noting that most of those commands will work for OS X as well.

This will be very useful. I'm still learning Linux but I have two servers running already on my ESXi server (Web and Splunk syslog). Plus, ESXi itself is based on Linux so this will help out somewhat their. It's certainly a lot easier than trying to figure out what command I need then trying to search for how to use it.

Being based on Linux doesn't necessarily mean their userland is anything like what you're accustomed to.

It's similar though. Many of the common commands work but there aren't really any user specific functions.
