I can't reply to everyone individually right now, but I just wanted to say, I've read all of your comments, and you guys absolutely made my night. So many stories! Thank you so much, all of you, for all these kind words (and thank you most of all for reading and for contributing). I am not sure what will happen with the Rag Trade column, but I know fashion coverage at Jezebel is in good hands. And as I said, I hope I'll be around here myself from time to time.

Bye Jenna! You single-handedly changed the way I viewed modelling, and for that I'll be eternally grateful. Thanks!

There's nothing I love more than an Iowa college town, for reals. I grew up in Ames, and being around the university really helped shape my view as a progressive. People think Iowa's all bumfucksville, but in the college towns, that's the sweet spot.

Congratulations on your new gig, professor. You'll do great!

I lived in Ames in the late 70s/early 80s when my mom was in vet school. Their hangout of choice (where I spent a lot of time playing Dig Dug and pinball) was Dugan's Deli. :)

Dugan's was awesome! I worked at Da Vinci's for a little while in like 95. :)

Jenna, I've been reading your posts for a long time (I've been a Jez reader since late 2007 - long before you "came out") and you've always been one of my favourite writers - so wonderfully witty and insightful. I'm so sad you're going! I'll be keeping an eye out for any of your future work, and GOOD LUCK!

I was born in Iowa, but haven't been there in years. It's a good place—not like a lot of midwestern places like here in MO. My cousin used to live in Iowa City, and I would visit her when I was in my early 20's to see bands when they came through. I really like it there. I don't know if you're vegetarian, but I guess it doesn't really matter. My favorite restaurant there is the Red Avocado. They have amazing food. You should check it out, definitely.

        Good Luck!

Sorry to bring such bad news on an early Saturday morning:

          http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-red-av...

Red Avocado closed :( As a former IC resident, this broke my little vegetarian heart!

Aww, this is such sad news! That was a must every time I went there and even though I don't have any reason to go to Iowa city anymore it breaks my heart for the veggies in that town!

Jenna, I've been reading your stuff since you were Tatiana the Anonymous Model. I'm far from a fashionista, but your writing was always breezy and accessible, and we found common ground in cooking. I still save wilted celery stems in my freezer for future stock-making because of your tips from this, my favorite Jenna post: http://jezebel.com/5853931/worth-...

So thanks much for all the good words, and good luck to you in all future endeavors!

Thanks for letting us get to know you and sharing your unique perspective. I enjoyed your articles on the fashion industry. And your crafts articles even though I can't sew. I'm glad that you are pushing yourself towards another challenge. Congratulations! Hopefully you'll have enough time to drop in and comment from time to time.
