This week in how SeaAnemone came about her hang ups:

I used to be friends with a bunch of people who were all "Nudity is natural and awesome and innocent and we love it! Come skinny dipping with us!" So I did. And it wasn't. And I do not believe anyone who tells me that they don't find nudity to be sexual.

Wait— you don't believe that nudity can *ever* be non-sexual? In many situations I find nudity sexual, but there are lots of situations where it's not sexual either (e.g. bathing a child, changing an older person's clothing, skinny dipping with family or platonic friends, walking around my house naked...)

Yeah, I've always sort of equated skinny-dipping and foreplay. Both are great, but let's be honest about what's going on, here, ok? Like the you-lying-down, me-straddling-you back rub. Let's have no illusions about these things.

It's a tradition with my friends when we spend our yearly summer weekend at my cottage to get a little tipsy around the campfire then race each other off the end of the dock, buck nekkid. It's nice to reach an age where it's just fun and hilarious to be naked with your friends, to not worry about your butt cause hey, we've seen each others tits and peen and it's no big deal. There's something liberating about stripping down in the moonlight and floating around grinning like fools in the cool, caressing water. Like a giant silk bathrobe. With seaweed.

There was also that one time we did a lot of drugs and just sat around in the buff all afternoon saying, "no you're wonderful!" drinking raspberry slurpies but that's a different kind of story.

My friends and I had the same thing growing up! Except we took it a step farther and painted ourselves with mud. 2 of the 3 of us now have tattoos devoted to said tradition. Glad to know we're not the only strangelings out there! :)

The last time I went to France, the country was suffering through a terrible heat wave. At the parks we visited, children of all ages (not just toddlers) and even some adults would jump into the fountains and splash around in the nude. It was a nice reminder that not all countries sexualize nudity the way we Americans do.

After living in Japan and spending time in onsen (hot springs) I realized how comfortable and non-sexual nudity really can be. The fact that Americans are so hung up on it is still somewhat strange to me.

The post surf naked jump into the river is one of my favorite things about where I live. The burn of the glacial water on your skin is fuckin' unbeatable.

That can happen even when you wear a bathing suit. :(

I had eaten so many of its cousins in my life, I honestly probably deserved it.

Skinny dipping is awesome, but best at night to avoid sunburn. Nude beaches for preference.
