    A) According to many reports, Kate is likely "too posh to push," which is a phrase that makes me gag. So, potentially no breaching of earthly vessels anyway.

    B) I have no idea what the point of this post is. You probably should've scrapped it halfway through. It just doesn't go anywhere.

What the hell does "too posh to push" mean?!?! I'm pretty sure I have an idea but I want to be wrong because that is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Good lord.

Yup. It's the trend of "posh" british women opting for C-sections rather than vaginal birth, because women with class don't go through the hassle of pushing. Opting for C-sections without need is a trend here as well, of course, but it's even worse in the UK.

It's pretty much the epitomization of all the terrible, classist results of medicalized birth.

OK, but let me just be completely honest here. I'm only celebrating the royal baby if it's a girl. Otherwise it'll be: oh, bummer... this was almost history. So, booze, explosions and a French accent for me... I'll catch up with the rest when Today covers it incessantly.

Erm... what? There have been many female royal births over the centuries. Did you know that, at this very moment, the monarch in Great Britain is a WOMAN?

Because if the baby is a girl, she will be the first in modern history to become Queen by the right of being the first-born. If the current Queen had had a younger brother, he would have been King, despite being younger. This time, even if the first-born is a girl and has a younger brother, she will still be in line for the throne ahead of him.

Wow! If you're going to offend someone at least get your clichés right! Kippers aren't a British dish, they're stereotypically eaten in the Isle of Mann. I don't understand this 'near-constant fog' thing that you think the whole of Britain has, I mean I understand people thinking it about London because of the smog back in the Industrial Revolution but not the rest of the UK. Yes, there has been a stereotype for the English hating the French but it doesn't really extend to Scotland, Wales & Northern Island. It's also becoming a very out-dated stereotype over here. The royal family are NOT in any way, shape or form 'oppressors'. In fact, you yourself, call them figureheads just a few sentences later. So am I an oppressed commoner or not? Am I meant to be eating a cold, soggy, traditional Manx dish or gluttonously devouring a whole tin of biscuits? Please make up your mind when insulting an entire nation. I don't know if you were trying to be ironic or funny & you just didn't realise you were being rude but if you're going to make fun of somewhere for it's stereotypes you could at least get them right. I've seen so many articles on Jezebel about stereotypes & even going as far as saying clichés as being racist but for some reason you seemed to decide that Brits are fair game? Well done, you've been offensive to an entire Country & their Monarchy, got a number of stupid clichés wrong & made yourself look like you feel the US is superior in every way in one swoop. You should really think about a career change, with skills like this you'd make a great politician.

Thanks for this. The outdated stereotypes are so tired and old at this point. No, we do not all have bad teeth, our food is rather great, it doesn't rain everyday, lots of us prefer coffee to tea and our British TV shows would make the Bible Belt explode.

We haven't been reserved since Diana died. Seriously, that was the moment we became a nation of infantile emotional incontinents.

Also, gotta say, I've lived here all my life and I could count the number of times I've SEEN fog. A bit of mist here and there, maybe. As will happen in damp climates. Especially Scotland.

I think I understand where you're coming from. I'm Canadian but, by pure happenstance, was right in central London that entire week. It was sheer madness and the odd thing was it was the ex-pat Brit wives of conference attendees who seemed the most obsessive, lining up for hours outside Harrods and other landmarks just to sign condolence books. I think it brought out the homesickness in them because they sure enjoyed the camaraderie in those interminable line-ups.

I thought the fog thing was a reference to Victorian era pollution? Like, the whole "pea soup" thing.

In response to your many critics — my mother and I are die-hard anglophiles and we thought this article was damn funny.

As a British person I am celebrating in this way: Hope for a Bank Holiday, then celebrate that, whilst not giving two shits about the baby.

I got mine at a local "little bit of everything" store, but I imagine they must be fairly easy to get online.
I'm not like a die-hard monarchist or anything, but I love it so much. Every time I see HM doing her genteel little wave, I crack right up.

Near-constant fog? I was treating people for dehydration at a summer festival this afternoon, it was unpleasantly hot today :(

Doug's got this *thing* about near-constant British fog. He's even referred to it as the *Mother Fog* that envelops you upon arrival in London. I really have to wonder if he's watched too many Basil Rathbone-era *Sherlock Holme* movies, filmed in black-and-white and with the fog-generator on full-blast. It's downright baffling, quite frankly.

And yet Robert Downey Jnr's Sherlock London is almost exclusively fog free. And you can even see clouds. About as accurate an observation as this article. ;)

I haven't come to that conclusion. Yet. I'm still trying to figure out what the heck he is rabbiting on about in the first three paragraphs (despite the headline being quite clear w/r/t subject matter).

I never understood Euro holidays. I was in Spain during some celebration of an occupation by the Moors or something to that effect. My spanish is horrible so I didn't quite understand fully. I imagine it would be like a Native American celebrating Thanksgiving. If someone knows the holiday i'm speaking of please let me know.
