    Oscar Grant was also a multiple felon who was on parole from prison at the time of the shooting.

    I was wary of this film when I first heard about it, but it sounds like the director made a lot of intelligent choices in regards to how to frame this movie. There were a lot of politics surrounding the death of Oscar Grant, and people seemed more interested in demonizing or lionizing Grant (and Mehserle) than actually acknowledging the young man that died. The whole incident was such a terrible accident, and I'm glad that Oscar's story is going to be told. He wasn't a particularly bad guy or a particularly good guy - he was just a guy that didn't deserve to die on the platform of Fruitvale BART.

      Are you familiar with the case? I ask because I purposely shied away from using the word murder. I don't think that Mehserle intended to pull his gun and kill Grant.
