Earlier today, Paula Deen's twitter account posted this behind-the-scenes shot of her recording the 44 second apology video (that evidently required 4 hours to edit).

Thank you for this peek into the process, Team Deen.

Not only a fantastic new taste sensation, but also Paula Deen's favorite new racial slur!!

...I'd be interested in what her arch-nemesis Anthony Bourdain has to say about this.

"...and discussing the possibility of dressing staffers like slaves for a catered event."

WHAT?! I don't even know what a slave is supposed to be dressed like. Slaves have a look now?

See here's the thing. A "mistake" is when you accidentally do something. Like adding Baking Soda to your biscuits instead of baking powder. That's a mistake. Relegating an entire segment of the poplulation to your batter-dipped version of Bojangles and Shirley Temple is not a mistake. It's just you being a racist shithead.

You shouldn't have to edit a 44 second apology that much. Did she keep cracking up or something?

So she gets sued for racial discrimination and harassment then shows up to her depo and admits to using the n-word? Did her legal counsel not advise her to settle? How did she think things would turn out? Her brand has already been damaged by the diabetes controversy. Why not just pay to make this thing go away?

normally celebrities and persons in the public spotlight never let these kind of trials make it to court, and typically settle before it even gets to the point where the public persona testifies that, yes, "I am a racist douchebag who wants little nig**** in shorts parading around my wedding"

Sometimes the client would like nothing better in the whole world than to settle, but the plaintiff demands eleventy-billion dollars to settle and refuses to budge from that. What typically happens next is a train wreck (although not on this epic scale) and the plaintiff usually (but not always) ends up with a whole lot less than originally demanded. Either way, I think the plaintiff here should be rewarded for a valuable public service!
