I fully agree that super-short shorts of any kind are almost always a bad idea. But this commentary is especially rich coming from her... people in glass houses is all I'm saying.

Yeah, but...did you not read? She's wondering if she is starting to look rediculous too. She seemed fully aware that she had lead/participated in some not-so-appropriate trends.

i always think that i can't wear mascara on my bottom lashes because they are too long and i look like a clown. i can't tell if i'm wrong or if this is just something mere mortals like me can't do.

No you don't* look like a clown! I wish I had super long lower eyelashes! I would wear all of the mascara on them. All of it! All the time!

*okay I don't actually know you so I can't say for certain, but I can't imagine it looking bad :)

Meh, I don't do it because I think it looks weird on me, and I have bad dark circles, so I think any liner or mascara on the bottom accentuates them.

I'm now closer to forty than thirty and I think about my wardrobe choices much more than I used to. Then again I usually end up saying 'fuck it' and wearing what I want. Maybe as 40 get's closer that will change...

I'm still in the early part of my 30s, but it was probably my mid-20s when I started feeling weird about how much I gravitate toward items in the Juniors department. I'm all, "Look, I *know* I'm an adult and shouldn't be wearing the same shit as some teens, but damnit, most everything in the Women's department just seems so, I don't know, middle-aged-to-granny-like." UGH.

I feel that. I love braided pigtails, but when am I too old for them? I don't want to be weird. I'm 25, so I don't think I've outgrown them yet... but maybe? I don't know.

I wanted to tell you that 25 is still fine for braided pigtails but then I recalled wondering the same thing when I was your age. I'm starting to think I might just say anything is fine because you're younger than I am. I like to let the whippersnappers have fun! If you hear me telling you that you can pull off denim underwear when you're 55, you'll know it's just because I'm 64 and haven't taken my pills.

I just wore pigtails to work last week and I am 27. Several people told me I looked cute. I was uncertain. The guy in IT who always flirts with me gave me a seriously weird look. I have no idea if I will do it again.

You kids are confusing me about the jean shorts thing. Pardon, jorts. I thought they were bad (hiss) but now Chloe's saying the kids were wearing the hell out of them...

Also, note to Chloe, if there's ever a time in your life I when you can let your ass hang out if you want, it's your early twenties, which I can only assume is the typical age for Coachella goers.

ETA: I'm a little surprised at the comments. Wear what you like and let others wear what they like without judgement.

I remember visiting the pyramids in Egypt and seeing a bunch of European tourists dressed in a way (that I felt) was inappropriate. Not just for the culture, but the WEATHER. Look, I get it, you're European and destined to enjoy a lifetime of wrinkled skin and cancer, but that can be avoided if you wear more than stretch-denim underwear and a crop top. I know it's hot, but you'll live.

Also. POOR DAISY. She's adorable. I'd rather see HER as Cinderella!! XP

That was one thing I found moving back to Ontario from Texas. In Texas we had to deal with the hot and the sun almost year round and so everyone owned hats, sunglasses, loose clothes that covered your shoulders and kept you cool. I used to do research/field work in Austin in July and we would be in full boots, long heavy pants, long sleeved shirts and hats and I survived.

In Ontario everyone is just so damn pleased to not be wearing a winter coat that they are all in spaghetti strap tops without hats all summer. It makes me cringe for their skin, and you can pry my collection of (stupid) hats from my cold dead hands because I want to make sure I get a full lifetime that doesn't involve skin cancer.

as an ontario native, i see these people all the time. the shortest mom jean cut offs with some barely there shirt and a navajo-inspired crossbody purse. ladies. put some real shorts on. they can even be cut offs! i just bought a bob ross tshirt that absolutely requires me to wear cutoff jean shorts but they will not be so short that you can see my bum cheeks.

I hate this idea that women have to stop dressing in fun ways or stop wearing whatever they want when they get to be older. It's a way of body policing women. You no longer look like you're 16, so you're obviously past your expiration date, so no cute clothes for you! Oh you're 40? You better get a short hair cut and christmas sweaters pronto!

I agree with you but I still struggle with it. I consider myself fashionable, and I love fashion. I have three closets full of clothes! But, as a 43 year old I do sometimes wonder, am I too old to wear that now? Will someone say I am mutton dressed like lamb? Will I look ridiculous, or like I am just trying too hard? In my case, it's not really about revealing or sexy clothing, it's just about does it look too girlish? So while I agree with you, I haven't been able to get to the place of "fuck it! I don't care what anyone else thinks, I will wear this no matter what!"

Well it's hard to say "Fuck it, I don't care what anyone thinks about blank" in general. I'm sure you can rock whatever is in those 3 closets (also, I'm jealous you have 3 closets. I have 2 closets and one of them is my floor.)

I'm 22, so I'm in the age group where I'm allowed to look however I want, but it's really depressing as someone who loves fashion, especially alternative fashion, that as soon as I hit 30 I need to look like an "adult."

I was being sarcastic; it's such an eyerolling piece of news from an eyeroll inducing person. But I have heard a handful of Jez commenters who have mentioned their experience in the sex/porn industry so I'm not surprised.
