    Two staffers quit after Ford told them that he knew "exactly" where the video was. IMO that is extremely relevant. What Gawker/Toronto P.D. should be doing now is looking for a body.

      now 5 have quit in total. His chief of staff called it quits after Ford stated in a staff meeting not to worry about the video, that it was at the address XYZ on the 7th floor of 302 of such and such street. The CoS was not there at the time, but other staff asked him after that meeting what they should do if they knew the precise location of the video, "hypothetically". The CoS said "go directly to the police" before he resigned on the spot, telling Ford to "go get some help".

      The other staffers remained over the weekend but resigned monday morning. Ford has hired 4 inexperienced young people to serve as his staff, though it is unclear if he will hire a chief of staff or someone to deal with the press. So far his brother Doug has done most of the press. At least 3 of the former 5 staff have co-operated with Toronto Police on the matter. I would guess that if the police do not have the video, Ford's people beat them to it.

    I'm curious about whether or not you'll be fulfilling the donor perks, or was there some disclaimer that you'd only do them IF you got the video? Also, will you provide the charity donation receipts to donors, for tax purposes, or will it just be a Gawker Media suchandsuch?

    Y'know, with all that money at stake, I'm surprised y'all didn't hire someone to stake out that apartment night and day knowing some shenanigans like this might happen ... because if you had, and a good PI was on the trail, you could've gotten video of a Ford staffer visiting the area to "cut a deal" of their own - and that video would have been worth 500x the footage of ol' Pipesmokey. Oh well... next time!

      I have a colleague who has brokered some of these videos. It's a filthy business, but since blackmailers are notoriously unreliable... none of the major outlets/buyers will put up a single nickel until the media is held in escrow.

      Crackhead blackmailers have a habit of not being very reliable, based upon my professional experience. They are like reptiles: all they understand is fear and pleasure.

      A charity for drug abuse is the biggest waste though. What are you going to help? all those things do is pay for expensive rehab, when all you should be doing is stop being a pussy and fucking quit. I will never understand donating to drug causes or anything. If you don't want help yourself it's not going to happen. I know people who have been addicted to hard drugs and quit themselves with no rehab, and others who've spent 5000$ on rehab and are doing more drugs than anyone I know.
