Can't Fear also be a natural reaction? If someone suddenly puts a gun to your head. Your natural reaction would be fear. If you choose not to be afraid. You've probably had a gun to your head before or just aren't afraid of dying.

It's not merely a natural reaction, it's a healthy one. Fear, properly understood, is a great motivator; it's just a matter of not letting it get control of you. Telling people they can't or shouldn't feel fear is stupid, although it's depressingly common; the focus should be on teaching them that feeling fear is normal and something everyone does, but that it doesn't have to incapacitate us.

IMHO telling people they shouldn't feel any emotion is awful.

Teaching and helping people to deal with their emotions and work on how to react to their emotions is the important part.

    M. Night Shyamalan was live in the WMMR studios this morning for the Preston & Steve show, and it was a lot of fun listening to them talk on even terms about After Earth, Philly, and how he makes films in general.

I really like MNS, but ever since Sixth Sense, I have liked his films less and less. Lady in the Water (which I sat through) was particularly horrible, and I haven't seen anything since.

But I can't deny that he's forthright passionate about what he makes, and at least from the half-hour or so of listening to him, also sounds like a decent enough sort.

I actually liked Lady in the Water and The Village. I HATED The Happening and everything else he's done since, though. Maybe my appreciation of the first two has to do with the fact that I was around ten when I saw them.

MNS kind of rated a shrug of the shoulders for me until he screwed up the Avatar: Last Airbender thing. After that I just couldn't with him anymore.

Question: What does Scientology take on suicide? Since "survival", as inane as that seems, is a big facet, tenet, whatever, I am interested in what the official stand is for suicide.

I couldn't find much in my cursory search on the beliefs re: suicide and Scientology. I did find lots of links about Scientology causing suicides.

I found this one thread here, with this quote

Isn't there some rule where "suicide attempts" are NOT to be allowed on lines?

ANY person involved in any situation that might bring negative PR to Scientology is considered a potential source of trouble (trouble for the org and for Scientology). The main concern of Scientology is and has always been, based on much exact LRH policy, in "maintaining good PR", and is NOT and has never been aimed at "helping people"

If it's a Shyamalan movie, let me take a stab at the "twist" ending: they're living inside of a sno-globe on John Travolta's coffee table.

The twist is that no one seems to know that it's a Shyamalan movie in the first place!

I really dislike the Smith kid... Will Smith is one of my favorite actors but for some reason I really can't stand his kid.

With that said, I was really looking forward to this movie. I love SciFi and I love apocalyptic future type movies so this very distressing.

      His kids are messed up.

Entitlement issues aside, the daughter sorta dresses up as a boy, while the son has been seen in feminine-type clothing. Whats up with that?

I kind of want to fight Will Smith's kids. In my fantasy fight, Jaden would try to pull some Karate Kid face kick shit, but I'd grab him by the ankle and snap his leg. Is that weird? (Full disclosure- I'm 37.)

There are so many idiotic issues in the science and logic of those trailers that I never even make it to the point of deciding not to see the film based on how annoying Will Smith and his son are.
