That's a pretty expensive-looking sofa, elegant house plant, linen curtain set and tastefully-dyed ginger mane that model's got going on in her living room. And is that ... is that a manicure?!

She shoulda spent her money on SKOOL!

If they wanted a realistic picture- They'd have a manufactured home, a giant TV behind them, plastic shelves everywhere, with an obese women sitting on a dark red or blue velour couch, wearing a Tasmanian Devil embroidered shirt.

Alternately, be a man. Makes life a lot easier.

Except for the fact that men have a shorter life expectancy than women.

Life sucks and then you die. And now you say you want to suffer longer?

We're men. Life doesn't suck for us, ever.

On a side note, life is awesome even when its shit, I'd like to 'suffer' a good long time. Provided I don't get dementia or something...

So if I'm reading this correctly (and I think that I am) and if I understand science correctly (and I think that I do), if you have a job, you will never ever die. Pretty sure I just cured cancer.

It's the same effect going on in math class. Every tick of the minute hand is a dreaded eternity. When you are a wage slave hating existence, time also extends into infinity.

Did the study control for drug use? I only ask because I have a number of cousins who can't hold down steady jobs (I'm talking losing Walmart/McDonalds level jobs here, not people who simply can't find work) and it's mostly because of drug use.

If they're seeing an effect even after controlling for stuff like income and health insurance, then it may just be that unemployment is correlated with increased mortality, not the cause of it. People with mental illnesses, with depression, with chronic illnesses, etc could be expected to have both higher mortality and lower employment.

I guess the invisible hand does, in fact, work, after all . . . at least when it comes to killing off those pesky poor people (and women).
