I can watch this, find it unamusing, mutter "what a jackass" to myself, and that's about all the disapproval I can muster. I don't advocate harassing wildlife or anything, but this doesn't exactly rise to the level of "global outrage" for me. This is "drunk Florida woman riding a manatee" level stuff here.

Frankly, I'm all for keeping him on the staff at the game reserve just to see how long it takes before he drunkenly charges an animal that thinks, "Fuck it, I'm trampling this asshole."

I agree. Global outrage over this? Search on Youtube for people shooting elephants and get some real outrage. This is nothing.

Well, the problem is, if too many people do this, wild animals cease to be wild animals. They may become too comfortable with — and possibly aggressive toward humans — which will result in them being euthanized for the "safety" of future tourists (as much as this dude probably deserved a good trampling, like you said).

I was on a safari last year, and our guide told us some heartbreaking stories. Sure, having humans in their habitat at ALL is questionable. But good safari directors make sure they skirt the fine line of showing people these amazing animals — and leaving them in peace. Apparently the biggest problem is not people doing what this guy did — but people trying to FEED the wildlife.

Why does the Venn diagram for "people who act like assholes" and "people who like to shoot video of themselves and post it to YouTube" have such a HUGE overlap???

I mean, it's one thing to be stupid and cruel enough to do this. It's quite another to be so fucking ignorant you don't have enough shame to not share it with the world.

If the elephant would've gotten him they probably would've sent out a party to shoot it for being dangerous. I hope the elephants send someone for him.

I really wanted a happy ending on this. For once! How come when humans harass animals, begging for an asswhup, they get the Ghandi's of wildlife.

I wished people who bring themselves into dangerous situations would more often face what they deserve.
