Hire Compson, you bastards. Hire Compson and put him in a gilded cage in your offices so he can never escape, never.

Maury is the best. Hire him, but don't cage him! Don't you understand, he'll stop singing his beautiful song. It'll just be all accusing looks and backhanded compliments to his feeders.

Free range Compson. Sure, hook up all the lesser gawker staffers to machines, but for special ones like Maury, retain staffers to hand milk the good stuff out of him. Also have him write articles for the site.

"Critics such as Buzzfeed writer John Herrman argue that there is little value in reader comments.."

..yeah, because, y'know, big honking "OMG", "WTF", and "WIN" buttons is all you really need to glean from a reader's thoughts... ao!

I tried to embed that whole conversation the other day into a post for Crosstalk, but Kinja was being contrary about displaying Twitter at the time and eventually I cooled down, but talk about people having their heads shoved up their own asses...

Like anyone cares any more about what he notices, thinks or what's important to him.

Dude - You'd think they'd follow you, especially for a post about you.

Otherwise, since I'm commenting to approve recommend: Unlike the history of some Gawker blogs, Jalopnik has always seemed to have had a good relationship with their readers and commenters.

      Congrats!

Congratulations! (Don't tell anyone at PaidContent that you've actually been writing a well-thought-out blog and not just commenting on other posts. That sounds hard!)

In a note earlier this year, he called it “a farm system for the main Gawker teams.”

Stepping up to the plate now is Lobstr (.322) of the Fort Worth Fighting Affenpinschers ..

The comments are what bring us back again, and again, crawling on our flabby bellies, screaming for more. Punish me! Punish me!

If you think Mike's story is good, I made $8231 just by registering 62,000 fake accounts to post spam comments on Gawker stories.

          just kidding ;)

Oooh, commenter-authors. How fourth-wall-bust-y! Can I cover the "+1" beat? "The current tally is +3,493,277,615 and experts predict that figure will continue to climb."

But seriously, I really, really like the new Kinja system. I always liked Gawker comments, but the new digs are awesome. I like the focus on the author - the big byline pics and that it's clear who wrote what from the front page (but I used to like guessing from the headlines - could spot a Nolan or a Weaver from a zillion miles away). I've also notice the quality of the comments elevate - I find they're almost always relevant/interesting/funny and flagging author participation is cool and helpful. Sometimes some gems get buried in the grey, but it seems like there are updates every few days and always positive, so I'm really happy.

The trend towards overlap between commenters and authors is awesome. I'm waiting for the day when you guys just post the passwords to all Gawker email accounts and peace out. THE FUTURE.

Gawker is basically the only site other than The Atlantic that I read comments on. I read major Canadian media otherwise... and lord the comments there makes you wonder where all these KKK people are living and why they read the CBC in the first place?

Harper, Rod Love, and Rob Ford pooled their money together to hire them.

As for where they live, my money's on Alberta or the 905 :)
