I was pretty stressed living in Hawaii SO IDK ABOUT THIS ONE. I couldn't even afford a gallon of milk there.

What's weird is that the list of "least stressed" shows no trends in terms of poverty rate—Hawaii only has 9% living in poverty, where Louisiana, the second place for least stressed, has twice that—or unemployment—Mississippi, the third place for least stressed, has one of the worst unemployment figures in the country, where Iowa, the fourth place, has one of the best. They don't have anything in common in terms of geography or climate. They don't have anything in common on health-related measures.

Seriously. Not to take a study like this too seriously, but I'm totally intrigued now. Is there anything that Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Iowa and Wyoming have in common?

Yeah, I was wondering the same sort of thing. It's difficult to connect the least and most stressed states with any shared theme or demographic. Of course, Hawaii is beautiful—but there is definitely more to the story. Polls are shallow by nature, but it would have been nice to see what the sources of stress actually were.

Yeah, you'd think Louisiana and West Virginia would be next to each other on such a list... not at opposite ends.

New York's not on this list? I can't imagine a more stressful place to live in America than NYC. While I know that doesn't encompass the entire state, from what I understand the economy is shit upstate, so I can't imagine it being a whole lot more chill up there.

I thought NY would be on the list for sure just because of how frequently everyone talks about how stressed they are in the city. It's reflexive to say that you're crazy busy/stressed/overwhelmed whenever someone asks you how you are.

Same reason California's not top 5. There's a lot of people outside of stressful SF/LA.

It should be mentioned that Hawaii does lead the nation in most stressed vowels.

Who doesn't experience some stress daily?! I mean if you are working for a living. Sure some jobs aren't that stressful, but aren't most at least to an extent once daily?

I wonder if part of this is just how routine it is to think of that universal feeling of stress by the name "stress." Are people from Boston more stressed, or do they just attribute the term "stress" to more of what they feel every day?

I know I'm stressed because I'm not living in Hawaii.

I'm not sure this has to anything to do with the poll results though.
