But don't you see? She scolded John Cook's friend when he replied to criticisms of sexism in a totally cliched, frat boy sexist way!

I've grown to the point where I immediately lose respect for people who yell and scream in the workplace. So, I can't defend that. However, I think it would be nearly impossible for any one to lead the Times well right now. It's just easier to like your boss, and for your boss to be likable, when the business is growing. That's when you get bonuses for referring new employees, when they throw boozy parties after projects are completed and when everyone working at the place looks at the company's success and says, "I'm part of the genius," and management agrees. The Times is in a place where the experienced people you looked up to are taking buyouts and leaving, where the younger workers are told to produce more for the same amount of money or less and where Tom Friedman will always makes more money than you and have an unlimited expense account, even as you take pay and benefit cuts. It's hard to love the person in charge under that scenario.

Has anybody ever heard her voice? It's like listening to amplified nails on chalkboard. I imagine that sort of auditory pollution would eventually have a negative impact on its environment.
