And this is just one of the reasons why I do not fault any Black woman, including the current Miss USA, for not identifying with feminism. Over at Jezebel, many of the comments when this murderer was charged were, “How come a white woman can’t murder a Black person? White men do it all the time!” They cared nothing for the victim or the plight of Black people in this country. Immediately, the concern was protecting this murderer’s freedom, honor, and RIGHT to kill Black people.

Always trust that no matter the political side (left/right), non-Black people do not see Black people as human beings and this includes white women who call themselves feminists. If there’s a totem pole, Black people are less regarded than pets.

      Feminism = white women

      Black women = BLACK

Sandra Bland was all the proof I needed. Well, that and slavery.

Feelings are running high today, the takes will be scorching and rightly so. Everyone is bringing their own baggage and experiences to their analysis of this fucked up situation. With that said, I read Jezebel quite a bit and never saw anything like what you’re describing and if someone did post something like that I’m guessing it was some troll. This case has fuck all to do with feminism.

I very stupidly allowed myself to believe that this time it was going to be different. That maybe the fact that there was a video of a man outnumbered 4 to 1 with a police helicopter circling overhead getting gunned down in cold blood would be enough for a weak sauce manslaughter conviction. Or maybe the same pathological misogyny that allowed us to elect that ass clown Drumpf POTUS would somehow be enough to get this slice of dog shit convicted.

But no, here I am sitting at my desk at work, secure in the knowledge that any fucking white person in this place could shoot me in the face and the overwhelming likelihood is that after getting booked (and probably fed Burger King) they wouldn’t spend another second in jail.

I’m actually thinking about packing up my shit and going home today. I don’t know how I’m expected to function when I’m sitting here seething with rage. Some white person is going innocuously ask me, “How are you today?” and I’m going to give a tight-lipped smile and say, “Fine” instead of stepping to them and asking them how they feel about the idea I could be killed at any time and no one will ever be held responsible.

There were like what, nine white people on this jury? I had a feeling this was exactly what we were going to get.

It would be nice to be wrong once in a while.

Tulsa area resident here. There was no way she was going to be convicted, here’s why:

    1. More than anything, the reasons you specified. Her fear as a police officer and a woman trumped any due process or anything else.

    2. The results of the toxicology report. As soon as it came out that he had PCP in his system, in many people’s minds that just closed the case and her fear (and, by extension, shooting him) was perfectly justified. Just another druggie off the street, never mind his family or his circumstances.

    3. This city is ground zero for the BLUE LIVES MATTER BACK THE BLUE ALL LIVES MATTER JUST COMPLY AND YOU’LL BE FINE crowd.

I was honestly surprised it took them so long, given that there was no way they had an impartial jury. This story dominated the news cycle locally when it occurred, when anything happened in the case (toxicology report like I mentioned above) and for the past week during the trial. After the verdict was handed down, I distinctly got the feeling that many people were just itching for a 1921-style riot so they could confirm their prejudices.

Yeah. We can be pissed, but in no way should we be surprised. After all, the leader of the free world can’t shock us if he fulfilled that promise of shooting a man on fifth ave.

You really think anyone else in that jury room wanted to hear their voice, their perspective? That they weren’t scared shitless that they might be the next person killed by a cop in Tulsa if they voted to convict? Puh-leeze!!!

I know I’m supposed to be furious.

I’m supposed to keep this woman’s name in the media like they did OJ’s and Bill Cosby’s until she becomes the poster child for corrupt policing and impunitive racial violence over a decade after her acquittal.

Until comedians make careers of bashing her in the media to the extent of making her a cultural meme.

But none of that is going to happen; you know the fucking rules.

    I’m going to forget her.

I will NEVER forgive any of these motherfuckers. Later today, I’m going to need to find a picture of this bitch so I can stamp the word murderer on it and post it to Facebook. No one will fucking see it but I’ll know it’s there and that’ll have to be good enough. I hope someone posts her goddamn address and phone number and that she never ever has a moments peace and that she spends the rest of her life looking over her motherfucking shoulder wondering if someone is going to put a bullet in her head.

      Yeah, I said that.

Now, I have to put on my unoffensive face for this interview I have in a few hours.

I was nervous when they went with a manslaughter charge and knew it was over when they announced the jury was mostly white women. I don’t think the prosecution even tried. This shit was pure optics.

First and foremost, the jury can fuck off with their (white) tears. Seriously.

Second, it tells you all you need to know about this vampiress that she can, with a straight face and complete lack of conscious, blame a man she shot needlessly for his own death.

Not guilty of manslaughter. MANSLAUGHTER. If this killing was not AT LEAST manslaughter then what the hell would constitute it? And that’s not even including the higher standard of duty required of law enforcement.

Oh and thanks, Officer, for affirming the sexist view that women are too weak or emotional to handle such jobs. I was scared! He mighta hurted lil ol Delicate Me! SO I FUCKING SHOT HIM DEAD.

Good job, Lady. Real good job. Oh and you too, Racist Jury.

That’s what I’m saying. Not even manslaughter? Really?

Shelby is a certified wretch on all fronts. When it comes time to save her skin she blew all the dog whistles (racism and sexism) that appealed to the juries, and a good portion of Oklahomans, archaic sensibilities.

Scared, while she was flanked by 3 dudes who certainly would have stepped in front of her had this mess turned “physical.”

Perhaps this is the inevitable result of our “sympathetic victims” and missing white woman syndrome. The only group that ever seems to receive news coverage whence victimized criminally, well apart from children, are photogenic white women. How is this group affected by growing up and hearing about the Natalie Holloways and Laci Petersons? Is it possible that this sort of coverage makes white women as a group unreasonably paranoid and fearful?

I knew it was coming. Knew it. From the time the DA filed the charges. From the time the jury profile was announced. Knew it was coming. This shit always ends with “not guilty”.

Still makes me want to punch a wall. Fucking incompetent, racist cops get away with murder, literally.

Their victim narrative doesn’t work without the endless whining about the “anti-cop sentiment’.
