Given how these things have been handled over the years, I’m kind of surprised that neither the President nor VP have, afaik, visited or even done a flyover of Louisiana to draw more attention to this story. I like them both, but I feel like the leaders of the Executive branch have an obligation to see things like this or the WV flooding firsthand. Or maybe Presidents don’t do that anymore after Bush was criticized for the Katrina flyover.

While the WV flood was happening, Obama was trying to name all the characters that died on Game of Thrones. I like Obama, I’ve defended him in my shitpig filled state, but that pissed me off something fierce.

I do wonder if Presidents aren't typically invited by governors as opposed to just showing up or planning it on their own. I hear what you're saying, but I do wonder if state-level people don't always want a Presidential visit because it can disrupt the work at hand. Not an excuse, because I take your point, but just a question.

Just be sure to deny to aid to anyone in the 9th district. Represented by John Fleming (R-LA). He didn’t think LA should have to pay for Sandy relief.

Honestly, it’s remarkable only 13 people have died. For a historic flood affecting hundreds of thousands of people, you would expect more people to die based on need for continuous medical care alone.

Home oxygen. Peritoneal dialysis machines. Inhalers, nebulized breathing treatments and other respiratory medications. Refrigerated Insulin for diabetics. Cardiac meds lost in the flood.

Not to be morbid, but note the “at least 13 people” have died. I assume we will not know complete totals for a while, and I doubt people are out there searching everyone’s houses right now.

more than 70,000 residents have registered for federal disaster aid.

You mean, 70,000 patriots have been rounded up and imprisioned in FEMA concentration camps.

I hope these poor people survive and stay in the area, eventually evolving to survive the annual flooding, spending more time in the murky, toxic waters, their skin hardening like ochre shells around their deformed torsos, hands shriveled into arthritic, meaty claws, their faces elongated after habitual use of vapes. Sluggishly slow, they would be easy to catch.
