So basically this article is saying is that it’s ok for CNN to selectively edit things to misrepresent truth as long as there are other places out there that do the same thing?

I’ve seen the video and it’s pretty obvious she’s not really telling people to go “burn down the suburbs” (ie white people, which is Breitbarts thesis), but it does take on a different tone when that part is left in.

“Breitbart regularly strikes this kind of liberal media watchdog pose, and though CNN’s edit is not exactly a crime against journalism, it’s not unfair for a critic to call them out on it.”

      I thought the point was:

      “Game recognize Game”

      alternatively;

      “Don’t Bullshit a Bullshitter”

Is it really editing if you just use some of a statement as a quote? Unless they used the first part, skipped the dicey bit, and spliced the end back into it.

Normally you don’t read full statements in news articles, just quotes from it.

So if Hitler said “I really like ice cream. I hate the jews though.” and the news only reported that he liked ice cream, that’s cool right?

It isn’t when you title it “Family of the Deceased Speaks.”

It is when you title it “Family Calls for Peace.”

CNN went with a version of the latter.

Just because you don’t agree with Breitbart’s coverage doesn’t make them wrong - CNN really did edit the recording and frame it in a way that fit their narrative rather than report the actual intent of her words...

Literally any clip of any speech on the news is “editing” if they don’t show the entire speech. The type of disingenuous editing people generally complain about, and the type Breitbart uses so commonly, is mixing together things said at different times to make it look like something was said that was not actually said. Simply playing one part of a speech and not a different part is quite a bit milder than that, not that Breitbart cares about the difference.

Of course every clip is edited - but what CNN did wasn’t editing for time constraints, it was editing to completely change the context and content of her message.

Doesn’t matter to me - as long as they go front to back.

Thanks for making me check out Breitbart’s comments section where “Rob” had this to say:

“The BLM violent rioters may find a swifter, more armed response than the police if they bring their destructive tactics into the suburbs. There’s a reason the Founding Fathers put the second amendment into the Bill of Rights. Five more months of that purple-lipped, Muslim-loving, sexually-perverted demon in the White House. God willing, President Trump will restore law and order to this zoo called Obama/Hillary’s America.”

    Ugh.

From Baton Rouge, after the recent flooding. Saw this in my local (Louisiana) fb feed, but I’d imagine Wisconsin has these guys too. They did elect Scott Walker, after all.

    Wait.

    Wait.

Breitbart is accusing another site of omitting context to serve an agenda?

I guess if anyone’d be experts on spotting that kind of thing it’d be them.

Would have been a better headline for this article. Kinda weird how he felt compelled to circle the wagons a bit for CNN.

Their are a lot of clearly CIA people in CNN. Many of their anchors have that CIA swagger. The way they talk is like KGB Putin.

Anderson Cooper is probably the CIA big boss in CNN.

Yet whenever I suggest that we go burn the suburbs to the ground, it’s considered a “harsh commentary on land use and transportation infrastructure policy.”

Being white has its advantages. All the advantages, really.
