That’s too bad. I mean you could get so many memes from this clip alone...

(That clip is also why I laugh at people when they tell me they’re voting for Gary Johnson.)

I’m still intrigued by the Sanders supporters who vow they’ll vote for Johnson, despite that socialists and libertarians have a “Cobra +Mongoose” relationship.

This is actually what a socialist society looks like in real life. No fiction needed. This is really what Venezuela looks like. Before you even go there, yes, this is real socialism.

OT, but I just wanted to say that I, for one, bienvenido our new corporate overlords.

And, for the record, I frickin’ love Hispanics.

There was a really interesting article in Politico today about how super PACs killed the Tea Party, essentially because for every true believer there were two lobbyists or lawyers trying to fleece that believer of every spare dollar they had. PACs are so unregulated that they don’t have to have any connection to the person or group they claim to represent in order to use that person’s name or image, nor do they have to account for their expenditures. The article details at least one super PAC that spent 100% of its donations from the public on overhead, and donated absolutely nothing to the candidate they were ostensibly fundraising on behalf of.

The whole thing is such an obvious scam made of bad ideas that I can’t believe it’s going to remain this unregulated free-for-all for long, but I guess I can hope that they take out a few more movements that I personally find objectionable before they go.

I read this, too! It was just astounding. I’m too sleepy now to say anything more than that. But definitely worth reading to get a sense of how corporate money is a Bad Idea for democracy.

Yet you get shouted down, face a barrage of insults, get labeled a neocon/Trump apologist and/or a sore-loser Bernie Bro around here if you point out how many tens of millions of corporate dollars are flooding into the Clinton campaign and PACs from all sides.

But nah, that’s the good corporate money, the “we just want what’s best for the whole country” corporate money.

And besides, like the conservative SCOTUS justices said, if you can’t show quid pro quo, there’s no chance of corruption.

Yeah but most of them were Nigerian princes asking her to send them $5000 so they could free up their $20 million fortune which they'd split with her.

I think Libertarians are almost if not more dangerous than Trump. Their rhetoric is extremely seductive on the surface, especially in the world of 24 hour news and the “sound bite” election process. But the second you start to pick away at the surface of their polices you see they really want a radical reconstruction of society that demolishes ALL of the safety nets in place and removes all of the protective regulations.
