      He’s not at all a guy like GWB, who stood on the deck of an aircraft carrier and declared the War in Iraq was over, a few months after it had started, with a huge “Misson Accomplished” banner in the background to ram home our glorious triumph.

    Good. Place should’ve been shut down over 5 years ago. Gitmo was the best recruitment tool Al-Qaeda and ISIS ever had as it was the perfect symbol of anti-Muslim/American Imperialism in the West.

      No, some of them were accused by minor financial rivals or tortured informants and were probably never dangerous or criminal. Pretty much why we need evidence and trials. (I get you want it shut down too, some of these people are innocent tho.)

      I did too, but I feel totally shaken and kind of sick from seeing them - holy shit. So fucked up. I so feel for the GM staff, especially the Jezebel folks, who I know had to see a ton of these images before the format changed for comments... and obviously it still isn’t foolproof. Ugh.

    Speaking of killers;

    If anybody gives a shit, a serial killer has been killing and wounding people in Phoenix for six months, and has not been caught.

    Named, “The Maryvale Shooter,” he has shot 9 people, seven of them fatally, since March 17th. Maryvale is a neighborhood in west Phoenix. There appears to be no motive, and there is no definitive description of the suspect, other than a police sketch resembling about a third of the people who live here.

    Honey-child, that point has long since been passed. It’s still technically possible to completely shutter the place, but we’re already way past the point you note. Gitmo is already that place.
