That’s 2 for 2 with American weapons attacking neutral hospitals. If only there were some kind of international courts that hold people accountable for war crimes or crimes against humanity.

Americans have performed in air refueling for Saudi fighters and bombers in Yemen. It’s possible we gassed them up before they killed those people.

its possible we also sold them the jets that we’re refueling

The White House also cast the agreement as one that would help give a lift to the U.S. economy, saying it would generate more than 50,000 manufacturing and supplier jobs in 44 states. The F-15s are manufactured by Boeing Co. in St. Louis.

but at least jobs! dead patients, but jobs! thank god we are big into arms deals. so many jobs.

Can we get the headline modified to say “Saudi Airstrike” ?

I feel that’s an important piece of information for the subject matter.

Not around here. It will be much harder to jump to the conclusion that this was the fault of the United States if they change the headline.

Well, they did field and fund the 9/11 hijackers, and without that, we wouldn’t have had the opportunity to bring peace, stability and democracy to the Middle East, so you should be more grateful.

Saudi airstrikes in Yemen are the anthesis of Gawkers traditional coverage sphere.

One one hand, good on Gawker for picking up this story as it is being largely ignored by American press.

On the other hand, bad on Gawker for ignoring and refusing to acknowledge the incredibly troubling racial issues buried deeply within the riots (not protests - vandalism, looting and riots) in Milwaukee. “Having a conversation about race” sometimes includes incredibly uncomfortable subject matter that goes against your predefined narrative. Burying your head in the sand solves nothing.

You’ve seen one race riot, you’ve seen them all. Is there really anything left to discuss?

Its just funny how the editors at Gawker choose which version of reality to acknowledge and how willfully blind the commetariate chooses to be.

In the most crass sense, Gawker exists to drive clicks and cognitive dissonance causes physical pain, so content must be at least 75% red meat. But at the same time, you can’t maintain a pseudo-intellectual high ground without ever challenging yourself to be better than those you claim to hate.

The Saudis claim that Houthi fighters use schools and hospitals as cover for their hideouts, so they bomb them:

Not to change the topic BUT is Ashley working today???

Also, these doctors are fucking heroes. They should stop making DC and Marvel movies and instead film these guys doing their best in this horribly fucked up world we live in.

Question: Why no coverage of Accountants without Borders, though?

I’m glad Gawker’s gotten around to noticing the war in Yemen. Daniel Larison has been one of the very few Americans blogging about it for months: http://www.theamericanconservative.com/larison/over-5…

I worked as a contractor in Saudi to one branch of their military for a couple of years. Not once, even among the hundreds of my co-workers - some there since the 1980'ws - did we expect the Saudi armed forces to prove effective or efficient.

Statistically they seem to be accomplishing “accidental” air strikes on hospitals that would be like 30 standard deviations from the norm.
