    I just think it’s funny that some people think he will all of a sudden make a magical switch and become this professional, presidential candidate out of nowhere. He hasn’t done it for the last year, he hasn’t done it for the last 70 years, and he sure as hell ain’t starting now.

    What’s worse is the assumption that if he did make some kind of pivot to being less openly an asshole, that should cause a swing in his poll numbers. As if we haven’t had thousands of chances to see what kind of man he is already. If someone changes their mind about Trump just because he manages to keep his shit under control in public between now and November, they’re still voting for that same orange imbecile, and they’re still the absolute fucking worst.

    Insane, indeed.

      I don’t think he’s insane. I think he found an angle that worked in the primary and thinks general election voters are the same as gop primary voters. It’s amateur hour more than insanity hour.

      I feel like Trump’s campaign slogan really is Rupert’s motto, “better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime”. Trump would much rather say the crazy thing now and grab attention while he can than work hard, most likely lose, and end up a schmuck.
