When I was in Afghanistan there was a reply allpocalypse for at least everyone on Bagram, maybe all US forces in country. The best part was trying to explain to the old civilian I worked with (fun fact there are a lot of very old U.S. civilians working in Afghanistan) why he shouldn't reply, it took me hours to explain what was happening to him. I don't remember how long it went on for, all I know is that even the mighty United States Army is powerless against a reply allpocalypse.

Unfortunately, I am one of them. Please enlighten me, since I stopped working in offices coming up on 20 years ago, and am not subjected to them, and am sadly behind on these things.

When you get a chance, could you explain the Replyallpocalypse?

When there is an email chain with many many people on it, who are all CC’d instead of BCC’d. And people keep “reply-all”ing to everyone in the email instead of “reply”ing to one individual person and it NEVER FUCKING STOPS

I work at a very large insurance company (yes I am dead inside), like 30,000+ employees. A couple of weeks ago some dolt in our claims department accidentally sent out a claim alert and CC’d the ENTIRE COMPANY. The ‘reply alls’ kept going for over a week. I firmly believe it was done on purpose to out the dumbest people in the company.

WOW! I’m glad you realized you are “dead inside” as someone who isn’t dead inside would have ignored the “claim alert ... CC’d the ENTIRE COMPANY” because not being dead inside their life would have sufficient meaning and richness of soul that this would have been ignored. So Monday morning when you get into your cubicle, call this person on the phone and thank them for giving your empty dull existence a moment of meaning. Then dust off your inspirational cat poster and water your plastic ficus plant.

I will admit that there is no defense for replying all, but I did so to bring another troll-loving coworker into the thread in the hopes that he would fuck it up.

He did not, and now I must live with my mistake.

Last year I received this mass email notifying me that my old college roommate and his wife had just welcomed a baby boy into the world. I was incredibly happy for them.

Until scads of random people I had never met before kept replying all with their sentiments of “CONGRATS!!1!” and “all our best!” and “happy and healthy!” Why do I need to be kept apprised of the fact that you find a child that has nothing to do with me cute?!

It literally lasted for a couple of weeks. I wanted to croak.

The happened to me once except it was a mass text. And then for several weeks after she would send out regular update pics of the baby that all looked exactly the same alien fugly and start the madness all over. I don’t speak to her anymore.

I got one a couple of years ago from my old college & a department of history or some shit? No idea why I was even on the mailing list. Soon there were reply alls to be taken off the list which then turned into a brutal fight between strangers with some VERY low blows. It went on for weeks! It actually turned out to be very entertaining.
