Honestly, although it makes a good headline. His longstanding and not unreasonable position has been (quoting the Chicago Tribune, b/c it came up first on a Google search):

“Trump has long blamed Obama and his former secretary of state — Clinton — for pursuing Mideast policies that created a power vacuum in Iraq that was exploited by IS, another acronym for the group. He’s sharply criticized Obama for announcing he would pull U.S. troops out of Iraq, a decision that many Obama critics say created the kind of instability in which extremist groups like IS thrive.”

    Not untrue.

I’m not a huge fan of Obama’s policies in the Middle East, but Iraq was destabilized before Obama had even made the jump from Illinois to the US Senate. Removing Saddam, dissolving the military, and about a dozen other decisions had far more impact in creating ISIS than any troop drawdown did. I’m not saying it’s entirely the fault of the Bush administration either, though God knows they did plenty of damage, nor am I saying Obama’s administration is blameless. But it’s the result of decades of bad policies in Washington.

Blaming Obama for ISIS is just like blaming him for the economy. It completely ignores the state things were in when he came to the job. It’s not necessarily a lie, but it’s not accurate either. It’s assigning way too much credit to a bit player. It’s like saying “Matthew Dellavedova created the Cleveland Cavaliers championship team. He is their MVP.”

If Trump’s foreign policy positions were anywhere near as nuanced as the above description makes them seem, even when talking to a crowd of brainless morons he would be able to express those thoughts, in simple but more accurate terms than “Obama created ISIS.” Also, if he had that much knowledge and understanding of the situation in the Middle East (ie. any at all) he would know that making that ISIL/ISIS comment would make him look like a complete and utter moron. You can “speak to the base” without looking every bit as uninformed as they do. Unless you are every bit as uniformed as they are.

ISIL = Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

Mr.Trump, that’s the name they gave themselves when they were founded by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in 1999. They also go by the name ISIS, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, and Daesh.

They formed, like I mentioned, way back in 1999. They were a small group, not really doing much, until the Iraq invasion of 2003. They then rose in power to finally become the festering boil on the worlds ass that we all know and love.

Obama and Hillary inherited them from Dubya. And Dubya inherited them from Clinton. Although, when they formed, the US wasn’t their main enemy. Their own non-wahabian muslims were.

At this point, I kind of hope Trump wins. It will take about a week for him to realize he is in way over his head and that he had absolutely no idea what he was getting himself into. And the stress of the job will make his tiny black heart explode within six months. Sure, we’ll be stuck with Pence, but at least the oompa loompa will be dead.

i dunno. clinton’s got OPS/WPA/BPA of .250/.378/.500 for the season with ISIS, but Obama’s .234/.390/.450 doesn’t take into account his intangibles. i think Trump is just wrong here.

As Trump diminishes his rhetoric is just going to get more and more unhinged. He is a pathological narcissist who is being exposed as a colossal loser on the national stage and this is making him very desperate and spiteful as he seeks to regain his sense of dominance.

I am very concerned about his possible behavior come the next few months. It’s not going to be pretty.

HRC is giving a speech on the economy today that is being viewed as a response to Trump’s speech on Monday.

Trump will say something totally crazy this afternoon because he can’t stand having the attention taken away from him for even a day.

Trump: Psychopath, thief, misogynist, narcissist, habitual liar, racist, fascist, bully, bigot. A man that has spent his life robbing the poor and elderly. A man who has abused the bankruptcy system and dodged the draft five times. A man that only has money because he’s a vaginal success. (Born into immense wealth.) Trump only cares about himself. Yet people will vote for him. The same people that stand to lose the most.

I think that’s what I find the most incredible about the whole Trump phenomena. I could understand if he had all sorts of wannabe millionaires and billionaires clinging to him and wanting the Cheeto crumbs that fall from his ugly maw. But this is the same guy who since the early 80s has shown nothing but arrogant contempt for anyone even remotely hard-working, all the while promising faux gold-plated pseudo luxury products. How the average lower-class worker can support Trump is beyond me. It’d be like Bob Crachit enthusiastically supporting the Ebenezer Scrooge for Mayor campaign. The very people who have a vested interest in seeing Trump soundly defeated are lapping up his so-called “tell it like it is” BS.

If this election isn’t a wake-up call to improve the entire U.S. education system, I don’t know what is.
