It literally looks like he is saying, “OWWWW!!!”

His wife, if that is who is next to him, is the one who gets to me the most.

Assange stated yesterday that murdered DNC Staffer was the source of the DNCleaks.*

TRUMP may joke about people getting shot, but obviously Hillary has them actually shot and killed.

*No surprise that this has not been mentioned on Gawker.

Can we just get on with a constitutional conundrum that requires Obama to stay on or move to the Biden reign already.

Imagine if a gun nut did take Trump’s request to heart or Hillary was found to be truly corrupt...or even if the Soviets were interfering in our election. Plus Obama staying on would likely cause many on the right to stroke out.

I wonder exactly what it would take to keep a sitting president in office beyond his two terms.

I remember when people were joking during the 2000 election about figuring out a way to let Bill Clinton stay in office for a third term. The jokes became a little more serious when the hanging chad thing happened.

Friedman (of all people) wrote a rather direct takedown of Trump: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/08/10/opi…

“People are playing with fire here, and there is no bigger flamethrower than Donald Trump. Forget politics; he is a disgusting human being.”

As I posted elsewhere, the problem isn’t that all those opposed to him politically have misinterpreted what he claims was either a joke or some sort of roundabout appeal to the political influence of a particular group. The problem is the one supporter who misinterprets the comments and plans to answer the call.

      “Stochastic terrorism”

...what Trump just did is engage in so-called stochastic terrorism. This is an obscure and non-legal term that has been occasionally discussed in the academic world for the past decade and a half, and it applies with precision here. Stochastic terrorism...means using language and other forms of communication “to incite random actors to carry out violent or terrorist acts that are statistically predictable but individually unpredictable.”

      ...

Stated differently: Trump puts out the dog whistle knowing that some dog will hear it, even though he doesn’t know which dog.

Those of us who work against anti-abortion violence unfortunately know all about this. Valerie Tarico wrote about this form of terrorism following the Planned Parenthood murders in Colorado Springs last November. The pattern she noted there is 100 percent applicable to Donald Trump and his supporters right now – except that we haven’t yet had the major act of violence at the end of the string. As Tarico wrote:

      1. “A public figure with access to the airwaves or pulpit demonizes a person or group of persons.
      2. With repetition, the targeted person or group is gradually dehumanized, depicted as loathsome and dangerous—arousing a combustible combination of fear and moral disgust.
      3. Violent images and metaphors, jokes about violence, analogies to past ‘purges’ against reviled groups, use of righteous religious language—all of these typically stop just short of an explicit call to arms.
      4. When violence erupts, the public figures who have incited the violence condemn it—claiming no one could possibly have foreseen the ‘tragedy.’”

This explains Donald Trump’s campaign against Hillary Clinton to a letter. He has 1) demonized her whenever he can by calling her “Crooked Hillary” and constantly degrading her; 2) organized a convention around which the central theme, repeated over and over, was that Clinton is a criminal who needs to be locked up, clearly using fear and moral disgust as motivators; and 3) is now using violent metaphors (or “jokes,” if that’s what you think his statements were) against her, just short of an explicit call to arms.

Now we just have to hope that #4 doesn’t come about – that violence does not erupt. Though, if it does, we know exactly what Trump and his supporters will say: that they never could have foreseen this tragedy.

Regarding #3, a former English professor-turned lawyer on Twitter explained why should be pissed off even if Trump was just joking (I combined some of his tweets below):

A racist joke sends a message to the in-group that racism is acceptable. (If you don’t find it acceptable, you’re in the out-group.) The racist joke teller might say “just joking” - but this is a *defense* to the out-group. He doesn’t have to say this to the in-group. This is why we’re never “just joking.”

To the in-group, no defense of the joke is needed; the idea conveyed is accepted/acceptable. So, when Trump jokes about assassination or armed revolt, he’s asking the in-group to assimilate/accept that idea. That’s what jokes do...If you’re willing to accept “just joking” as defense, you’re willing to enter in-group where idea conveyed by the joke is acceptable.

In other words, joking can help normalize even taboo ideas to certain audiences. Jokes don’t just exist in the ether with zero cause or effect on the real world.

Trump’s ‘joke’ emerged from 30+ years of right-wing filth about Hillary Clinton being a murderous, evil, castrating criminal. And it rang a sympathetic chord in his audience because they have been primed by conservative politicians, media, and other figures to regard Clinton as the personification of everything they believe has gone wrong with the world.

It doesn’t matter if those politicians and media figures were rhetorically beating on Clinton for money, attention, ambition, or motives other than actual hatred. They have indoctrinated a lot of conservatives to actually believe Clinton represents an existential threat.

If there is an attempt on Clinton’s life, then people like Trump are guilty for making such an act not only seem permissible, but imperative.

This is impeccable and needs to be its own article.

Trump knows exactly what he’s doing. He’s vague enough with the dog whistling to _claim_ plausible deniability and to not have any future event be attributed to this speech.

The point about jokes is spot on and difficult for me personally. I like politically incorrect humor and feel like I can parse it. But I also know that I grew up with offensive jokes that were featured in Truly Tasteless Jokes and other such fine publications that tint my view of the world. All this to mean that I agree with you that the right wing has spent 25-30 years softening the electorate on their views of the Clintons and should feel responsible for creating the environment where Trump can exist. I am just not sure where the line is where you fight back against such speech.

Donald Trump has been wearing a bulletproof vest under his clothes since April, and it supposedly leaves him a tired, sweaty mess after his public appearances. And he still has the gall to encourage his “second amendment people” to “take care of Hillary.”

Do you think he showers on his planes, or just stinks up the entire cabin until he gets back to his penthouse in New York? Has anyone been close enough to shake his hand? Does he smell as bad as you'd imagine?
