Imma let you finish but Trump just “joked” at one of his rallies about “2nd amendment people” assassinating Hillary Clinton.

We can’t let this shit go on anymore. Nobody else could get away with this. This really fucking crosses the line.

I just saw this. It just goes to show that every time he does a prepared teleprompter speech, you can look for crazy fireworks at the next day’s unscripted event. I can’t believe it’s not the banner over at HuffPo.

Thanks for amplifying this. This is serious shit right here. There is no playing off what he meant here.

They’ll say he meant that 2nd Amendment Senators will block nominations, which is what he will say. The media gives him a pass and treats him as if he’s a real presidential candidate and not a 70-year old man-ape-cheeto toddler.

I don’t mind the media being biased as long as the media is honest about that bias. Everyone should wear that bias on their sleeve like a NASCAR sponsor patch. A lapel pin flag that clearly tells everyone what “team” you are on.

There was a time when you could take an AP or Reuters article and then compare it to a Fox article and an MSNBC article that site the same AP or Reuters article as a source, then highlight the changes between the articles. That would clearly show you the bias of each outlet.

agreed. every organization is going to be biased in some way, that’s just the world. that’s people. journalists are people.

BUT it’s about levels of credibility, right? as a librarian this shit drives me fucking batty. a meme, Breitbart, Matt Drudge or whatever are not very credible sources. the NY Times, Reuters, AP, way more credible. because: they’ve been around longer. they go to source documents. they cover both sides of the issue.

but try arguing that with a trump supporter. they don’t give a fuck. there’s so much cognitive dissonance, dunning-kruger, etc going on right now.

I agree with you, but please don’t be throwing Reuters into this mess. They do pretty well, along with AFP, BBC, CBC, etc.

American media is fucked, but not that of most of the Western world.

Where did this toothless notion that the press has to be “impartial” in politics even come from? The only thing journalists should be beholden to is the facts, not neutrality. If the fact of the matter is one candidate is an egomaniacal idiot douchebag shitface ballsack, overflowing with lies, hate, and mania, they should report that as accurately and viciously as possible.

Jesus. This is nothing more than continued pandering to a group of dumbasses who, despite having practically never been in a position of powerlessness, define their very existence by the concept. There's no goddamn assault on the Bible, guns, decency, morality, the 'family', or any other fucking concept like that, and there never has been, but to listen to these shitbags, you'd think white conservatives were disenfranchised leprous martyrs.

To Trump, media is biased when it doesn’t call him The Best Person on Earth.

If media praises him—well then, it’s the best goddamn thing ever.

consolidating his base of support around his cult of personality, and delegitimizing all truths other than those he provides

If the media doesn’t fawn over him, it’s biased. If he doesn’t win the election, it’s rigged. If politicians don’t like him, they’re weak losers. There really is no way to win with him. The man does not even understand—let alone feel—accountability. How reporters can even stomach talking to him, I don’t understand.

Thanks, it’s been irritating that his use of the word “unfair” consistently actually means “it doesn’t kiss my feet” but somehow this hasn’t been pointed out thousands of times. I’m not being sarcastic, I’m genuinely mystified that it’s gone so unmentioned for so long despite being completely obvious as a Trumphemism for some time now.

God, this again. Look, just because it’s very hard to remove all bias from journalism doesn’t mean you can get away with not even trying to make an attempt at being objective. You guys threw the baby out with the bathwater years ago, and as entertaining as it sometimes is, journalism it ain't.

It’s really hard to wedge any meaningful and honest analysis of Trump in there when all he ever does is reduce those would-be analysts into fact checkers.
