      Columbia House was the best. They never did anything to collect their money or to verify who you were. When I was in my late teens/early twenties, I got hundreds of CDs by signing up dozens of times for the first 12 free ones as (basically):

    Today we learned that it’s a bad idea to give your credit card number to a man who pockets millions as he stiffs contractors and vampirizes hapless shareholders. At least the many Nigerian princes on the internet don’t ask for your vote after they bolt with your cash.

    The silver lining: At least the Trump campaign managed to screw over its donors without any outside help from Wikileaks. Efficiency!

      Honestly, for someone who doesn't really do much in terms of traditional campaign, Trump raises a lot of money. It's not going into ads, he's not spending that much in web design (clearly), so where is it going? Besides into his pocket, I mean. About a quarter of his campaign spending is on stuff he owns...

      As the people of my generation would say “Don’t hate the playa, hate the game.” As long as campaign financing is all about getting donations from corporations and the like, I’m not going to blame an individual politician for taking the money, literally no strings attached. You can’t fix the system by making it harder to get elected for yourself, you fix it by getting elected and then instituting reforms.
