          Publicly, sure. But I doubt they have a file on her, unless it’s an internal file. I think it’s much more likely that she was supported as a hearts&minds counter-intelligence asset, not unlike Peter Matthiessen at The Paris Review and funding for the Abstract Expressionists to influence european thought, and various major players in domestic art and television, Whitney and Paley among them. It’s unlikely that she would have known about it, given what a blow-hard she was, but that’s where her relationship with Greenspan becomes all the more interesting.

        From the WaPo:

        The first 911 call came shortly before midnight Monday.

        Police found the caller, 54-year-old Deborah Harris [aka “Ayn Rand” -gp], sitting by a bus bench in West Palm Beach, Fla.

        Harris couldn’t explain why she’d called 911, according to a police report. But she did curse at the responding officer and tell him to “go to hell,” the report states.

        The officer left without further incident, but the calls from Harris didn’t stop: Within the next half-hour, she dialed 911 14 more times, using profanity each time and never once giving a reason for the calls, the report states.

        Shortly after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, the same officer responded and warned Harris that she would go to jail if she placed any more non-emergency calls to 911, the report states.
