What do they think is gonna change? It’s just who he is. It doesn’t matter what you tell him. 70 years of petulant narcissism is not gonna change now that he’s on the biggest stage of his life.

Look, criticize him all you want, but to me the high point of this election campaign will always be the debate moment when Jeb said he would not stand for insults to his mother, one of the smartest, strongest peopl—

And Trump interrupted him like an old man sending back soup in a diner to say, “Maybe she should’ve run instead.”

But I’m just nostalgic for the days when the R’s were hosting those 35-candidate events and not really hurting anyone except themselves.

That petulant narcissism got him to this biggest stage, he’s not going to stop with what he thinks is obviously working.

Why do they think he’ll listen now? He’s made a lifelong commitment to burnishing his self-image. There’s no way anyone will be able to tell him to sit back and be humble, he literally can’t bring himself to do it.

It’s amusing that they think it’ll work, because it’s obviously worked so well up until now.

They might manage to control the outbursts for a few days, but there’s no containing the gasbag juggernaut. His ego is too YUUGE.

I honestly don’t know what they’re hoping to change. He hasn’t done anything different this week from what he was doing before this week, it’s just that now people are actually paying attention and calling him on it.

Indeed. They’re trying to jump in the way of a moving train at full steam. Here’s hoping that goes horribly for all involved.

Reince is so far gone... his tweets look like someone paid him to just slam Hillary every few minutes with conspiracy theories.

And he’s too much of a chickenshit to both a) admit that Trump is NOT the answer, and b) to shave the rest of his head, as though we believe he’s not bald already by keeping the U-shaped ring of thin hair around the fucking back.

This ought to go well....confronting a spoiled cunt who has lived 70 years with litter bearers marking his path and cleaning up after him, kissing his ass literally ALL the time, and telling him it would be best to change his ways....

    What could go wrong?

Tangentially related, but I think worth pointing out, in regards to this: “...the bizarre claim that his daughter would never allow herself to be sexually harassed at work, notwithstanding the fact that she still works for him.”

Chris Hayes last night pointed out a passage in her book where Ivanka mentioned getting sexually harassed by workers while visiting her father’s construction sites.

So a) she HAS been sexually harassed according to her own claims and b) I’m assuming not all of those hard hats were summarily fired over a few cat calls, despite Ivanka’s claims that the Trump Org would “swiftly” deal with any harassment complaints.

It’s Ivanka, so I’m sure exceptions can be made. The ‘hardhats’ all probably met with accidents.

Not to mention the fact that her “career” consists of working for her father. It’s easy to pretend like you’d never allow yourself to be sexually harassed when you’ve always been the boss’ daughter.

My armchair theory: Trump is a true narcissist, and like all true narcissists, he’s actually deeply, pathologically insecure. He’s engaging in this apparently crazy behavior now as a kind of test: He’s acting in the most destructive way possible to see how far he can push it and have people still support him. He’s seeking the boundaries in order to confirm his subconscious suspicion that he is not unconditionally loved. Teenagers with emotional issues do this kind of thing a lot. I suspect if we look at his relationship with his mother we’d find some interesting things. Not least the fact that he’s apparently trying to simulate her bouffant. He’s trying to honor her and at the same time symbolically exorcise her. It’s a Norman Bates kind of thing.

So, is there a pretty major leak in his campaign or what? Stories like this shouldn’t probably be getting out to the general public, especially if they actually want him to respond to this intervention with anything other than a giant “FUCK YOU.”
