      Great piece. I went to school up there and knew some people who did this to help pay their way through school since legitimate work is so hard to come by in Humboldt and Mendocino. For all some of the prevalent countercultures up there like to think they’re so much better than mainstream culture, the sexism, racism, and homophobia I’ve witnessed in weed and surf cultures is real. (They’re situated in much prettier environments, though!)

            The pay is good but the work is tedious. Any trimmer would say that. Since it went legal here the pay crashed as a bunch of dumb stoner kids flooded the market.

              You can save the snark. Im totally down with the legal weed. I don’t trim, but I do consume and I’ve noticed the quality go down as people started buying trim machines and hiring inexperienced trimmers.

              Never said it was a net negative.

            Machines aren’t used that much because pot growers are in general dumb as fuck and machines “damage the crystals,” but Jim could save thousands if he invests in a few trimming machines and hires maybe three locals to buck.
