Let’s hold the Olympics in a toxic, corrupt literal shit hole. What could go wrong?

Anyone who ingests more than three tablespoons of the water is “almost certain” to get infected with a virus, the AP reports.

    Row, row row your boat,

    Slowly through the shit,

    Carefully, carefully, carefully, carefully

lose your life with just a sip

Jesus at what point do you just cancel it? I guess that would really suck for the athletes who worked so hard.

I have to say, all of this anti-Brazilian rhetoric coming from everywhere is pretty damn racist. Yes, a lot of people have to live with poverty, crime and filth. Some overpaid athletes and journalists having to deal with it for a short while is a learning experience, if anything.

There's nothing racist about pointing out what a toxic shit hole Rio is.

Yeah... this is an international disaster waiting to happen. I wouldn’t be surprised if at least one open-water athlete ends up critically ill. As someone who barely survived a severe e coli infection (origin unknown, I had dudes from the CDC looking like Secret Service agents standing over my hospital bed because it was a rare strain they’d never seen in Buffalo...) I am terrified for these swimmers. At my worst, my pulse was 30 over 10 and my fever was 107. It’s nothing to fuck around with. It put me out of work for a month. Fuck. I would absolutely bow out without question, having experienced the excruciating pain of failing kidneys. FUCK THAT.

I don’t feel bad for a single competitor who jumps in that “water” willingly. If your ego is so fucking huge that you need to compete in a river of shit in order to satisfy any argument as to your dominance...well, I can’t think of a better place for you to be than in an ocean of shit.

I'm expecting an insane number of staff infections for competing athletes. Fucking egos man...have fun losing your limbs and eyes to those infections...cuz that bay makes the Hudson River look like a bowl of Smart Water.

Doo doo deee...the girl from Ipanema has typhus and when she goes there’s dysentery too...

Just cancel the fucking thing and use the money to feed the poor of Rio, and perhaps get some water sanitation.

What money? They are insanely over budget and heavily in debt. The poor would be better served if they were allowed to eat the venue buildings

Unless they were built out of gingerbread (which would be diseased anyway) I don’t think that will work. ;p

I dont want Rio to put up the money, I know they have none, I meant Coke, Pepsi, Nike, NBC, Puma, Fila, Nabisco, anyone who was going to spend money attending and advertising. I’d rather buy yoir cola because you fed some kids than because someone swam in shit harbor.

    Best report so far

For those confused, during a evacuation drill, the Australian delegation was robbed. This is on top of a China team member being robbed at gunpoint and one of the Brazilian team members being shot in the head during a robbery.

What a weird coincidence that the person shot was a member of the Brazilian shooting team.

Why hasn’t China been given credit for their robbery? It’s almost like they’ve been robbed twice!

Look, it’s time to cut your losses. We can scrape something together in a dozen different cities - how about one of the last ones to host a summer olympics, you know, that still has all the now useless infrastructure in place?

The infrastructure from the Montreal Olympics in 1976 are literally crumbling into ruins, but that would still be a lot safer than what they have in Rio.

Most Olympic Games infrastructure is crumbling and abandoned, not just Montreal.
