In the span of two days, Trump has managed to successfully keep his losing feud with the parents of a dead soldier in the news cycle because of his refusal to back down no matter how wrong, insulted fire marshals twice for doing their job, and called a political opponent the devil. Even for Trump this is unhinged.

  Yep. The one benefit of this long election is that this maniac doesn’t have the discipline to keep up his act in the face of withering criticism. It has to be killing him. I bet he feels like he has been holding back, that his people need to let him loose to go on the attack. He cannot handle the ridicule and it’s only going to get worse as his numbers start to drop over the next few weeks. The Romney folks didn’t believe the polls. Donald is obsessed with them. I’d put even money on him going into cardiac arrest or stroking out before November. Hell, I’d even go with late September.

While we’re all having a good chortle, here is what I think is going on:

Trump’s campaign knows he shit the bed in the interview. They need that ukraine gaffe drowned fast. Also, the Koch brothers shutting down the dark money is terrible news.

Best move is their classic move, distraction. So Trump gins up the kerfluffel with the fire marshals and continues counter-trolling the Khan family.

He’s also trying to shore up the religious right, who’s a little skittish on him at the moment. So Pence signals that abortion will get banned. Trump threatens porn (especially cp, risking alienating the 4chan crowd) and now throws some “hillary is the devil” red meat.

Voila, no one is discussing his Ukraine gaffe anymore and most people missed the Koch brothers story entirely.
