If your company ever tells you to be prudent with expense accounts, empty that coffer on hookers and blow. Why not? You’re clearly on the way out.

Yep. Unless you’d prefer hearing these hero stories from all of your coworkers before the inevitable end..

In fact, fuck it. Cap off a weekend in Vegas by buying a car on that expense account. Just put it in your wife’s name.

I’m amazed they got rid of the CFO. Slap on the wrist should’ve done it (and the layoffs, etc); I hope there’s a decent golden ejection seat involved anyway.

“It is also trimming back its cell phone reimbursement plan and warning employees to be prudent with expense accounts.”

I’m no CFO, but I think I see two immediate things that can be eliminated completely before cutting health and retirement benefits.

And that is why you aren’t a CFO. The whole you have to spend money to make money thing applies here. You are in PR, so calling people and schmoozing is basically what you do as a way to generate revenue.

The fact that this was sudden is a very, very bad sign, but you have to keep the things that make the cash register ring first and foremost, because if that stops you are going to cut benefits even more when you go bankrupt.

To be fair, a ton of people have gone broke insisting they had to spend money to make money

Maybe part of their problem is that their logo literally contains a toppled house

Is this the right use of the term “literally”? Because it’s figurative. But like, literally figurative? I DO NOT KNOW THE ANSWER.

I always love it when companies fuck up and blame anyone but themselves for the mess. If you went on a hiring spree you can’t afford maybe you could do the honourable thing and take a pay cut yourself rather than fuck around with those on the lower end of the payscale.

Of course that would require actually having some balls.

Not really, but Denton’s bankruptcy news that just came out deserves a headline at the flagship.

I suppose the CFO having a serious LSD habit is as good an explanation as any for what went on here.

It’s weird. Some of the best run organizations treat the finance dep as a force of nature that must never be challenged. And because finance suffers no fools, it works.

Sadly, a some percentage of those arrangements end in fraud.

      Trust but verify.
