      I think he was deceived into believing that Manafort would exercise more direct control over Trump, keeping him off of Twitter, scripting his speeches, and coaching him on talking points for interviews. I don't think they fully understand yet what they're dealing with.

      The RNC has a few pre written Trump Apology Statements circulating; you just fill in his latest outrage, change the date to today’s date, and post it on your website or Facebook page or read it to a reporter. A few of the tech savvy Republican operatives are working on a script that will automate the process using Google Alerts for “Trump, Donald J.” And “controversy” to locate details on what he's done recently and fill in the apology instantly.

      That may seem despicably lazy, and it is, but in their defense writing a brand new statement every time would be exhausting.

    So we will reduce the likelihood of other American soldiers dying by sending American soldiers into The Caliphate to fight ISIS at the source, projecting strength on the global stage and alienating millions of Muslims worldwide? I’m not sure I am following the logic. Most observers would say that is a strategy likely to lead to more American deaths, at least in the short term.

      Except for the first part, none of that means anything. We already have a giant military, we are already defeating ISIS at its source. All they’re really saying is that they’re going to keep out “the Muslims.” The rest is just Republican boilerplate, with a bit of “Obama is a secret Muslim” drizzled on top.
