In this election, one side is objectively, without partisanship, in the wrong, from the perspective of any educated, intelligent, and honest person. If the Democratic convention has been about anything, it’s that. Buzzfeed clearly has no idea how to handle this fact.

I think they are trying to avoid reaching that conclusion because they don’t want to have to revisit it every election. It’s easier for them to just say “be neutral every election” vs. having to weigh the candidates each cycle and decide, “Yeah this guy is SO dangerous that it’s okay not to be neutral any more.” and then deal with the ensuing criticism of how they reached that decision.

If you're a media company that relies on broad, bland appeal I can definitely see why they don't want to spend that much time evaluating candidates and revising their editorial standards over and over.

Hillary Clinton? Warmonger neocon Reagan Democrat “objectively in the right”?

Well, you’ve got the “right” part correct. Everything else is delusional thinking from a campaign that is dead on arrival.

Go ahead and dismiss this post. Every other paid Hillbot on Gawker has been briefed on the function.

When in doubt, the ideal journalistic posture is: 👀

I’m not sure I can trust journalism advice from a guy who’s not writing in real words.

Oh please; no one has to be reminded to suppress their enthusiasm for Hillary Clinton.

They’re just trying to suppress the groundswell of support for writing in Lincoln Chafee. It won’t work of course; once people #FeelTheChafe they can’t get rid of it that easily.

God, if only the Gawker media conglomerate had the same directive. I hope Trump loses just as much as the next Berkeley alum, but god forbid there was any actual journalistic integrity around here (especially Jezebel) instead of just an amalgamation of “twee wishful thinking ‘16". The bloggers (I refuse to call them journalists) that get posted here are a pathetic excuse for anything remotely resembling professionalism and should go back to the Livejournals or Melodramatic accounts they once inhabited.

It’s hard to remain nonpartisan when the enemy is Trump. Given his attitude towards the media, I’m glad I’m not a political blogger/journalist.

“nonpartisan” or “politically neutral" (hoping you see this in time to fix it)

But yeah, this is an absurd policy.

Sure... Wouldn’t want to undermine your journalistic integrity. In fact, I can think of 19 ways writers totally destroy their own legitimacy. (#16 will surprise you.)

Clearly you don't write like this for a living. I didn't even have to click next once to finish your sentence. How are you supposed to build up the revenue from penis enlargement advertisers if I don't have to click next

Buzzfeed is one of the news organizations that was blacklisted by Trump. Memo or no memo, I’m pretty sure I know who they are rooting for.

Clearly leading by example, it is impossible to tell which candidate this editor will be voting for. Well played, pro editor person! Since I would assume that this memo will now find “social media,” it is fortunate that no partisanship is showing.

You didn’t read everything, did you? And that’s obviously giving you full benefit of doubt that if you did you’d understand the point.

Hey Alanis, go learn about irony. And who the fuck was commenting about Gawker being neutral? Why did you comment on something you either didn’t read or didn’t understand? You are seriously fucking retarded, aren’t you? Did you disappoint your parents when you dropped out of school?
