In what way does her husband’s infidelity affect her eligibility as a candidate? You didn’t even eat applesauce until a few months ago, so I distrust your views of the Bill Clinton presidency anyway.

The only even closely plausible explanation I’ve heard, is that she talks a huge game about empowering women, standing up for themselves, being strong, etc etc, and yet she did the opposite? It also made her look really bad when she said all rape victims need to be heard, except of course the woman who accused her husband of raping her. That's about it.

    Fuck you.

No seriously. On a historic night, when the first female nominee this country has ever had is being introduced by her husband, you want him to talk about his flings?

Really? That’s what fucking misogyny looks like. What bearing does his adultery have on her platforms? And if you have any respect for Monica Lewinsky, you won’t make her a prop in this stupid story. She was dragged by EVERYONE. For years, after the impeachment, she couldn’t get a job. That’s not something the Clintons did alone, we all did it. Linda Tripp is still talking about it in the right wing media, and you know who isn’t?

Monica Lewinsky. So don’t pretend this is about Monica Lewinsky. This is about you, turning her into a piece of furniture.

      This....isn’t what misogyny looks like.

Jordan’s not “bringing up his flings.” Jordan saw coverage where reporters were talking about his flings, and wrote an opinion piece about how lame it is that they’re sitting there talking about the sex scandals and carefully dancing around the subject. You...should consider getting some reading comprehension.

Granted, this is the kind of comment I would expect from you, emoo, but it doesn’t make your comment any less foolish.

Since I’m already having this fight in the other post, I may as well have it here, too - Clinton didn’t just “fuck around on his wife.” And he didn’t just fuck around on his wife with a 22 year old intern when he was the most powerful man in the world. He has been repeatedly, credibly accused of sexual harassment, at least, and also accused of rape. The fact that he’s a Democrat should make no difference when we try and come to terms with these multiple, repeated accusations.

And it’s not like he’s some progressive hero, either. He left the campaign trail to oversee the execution of a mentally disabled man and then bragged about it. He push through welfare reform, which tripled extreme poverty. He championed a crime bill that unquestionably deepened racial inequality in our criminal justice system and contributed to our mass incarceration problem. He signed DOMA, a huge impediment to same sex marriage. He brought us Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, which led to far higher rates of discharge for gay service members. He instituted sanctions on Iraq that killed hundreds of thousands of children while failing to meaningfully hurt the Hussein regime. He did immense damage to the Gore campaign thanks to the Lewinsky scandal. He did more to make the Democrats a center-right party than any other individual figure. And this year, he publicly scolded BlackLivesMatter activists for daring to work outside of the Democratic party to make change.

I at least understand people who will vote for Hillary Clinton on progressive grounds this year. But I don’t understand being a progressive and supporting Bill Clinton. It’s utterly bizarre. There’s nothing to like about Bill Clinton if you’re a progressive person.

Monica Lewinsky’s name is not a curse.

Yeah but I bet you won’t say it in front of a mirror 3 times after midnight.

I’ve been surprised that Trump, given how wheels off he’s gotten at times, hasn’t brought up the Lewinsky scandal more often than he has.

My guess is that he doesn't actually think it's bad. It's like a huge blind spot where he never thinks to go because he isn't even aware it exists.

I look back on the Monica Lewinsky summer and it seems so long ago. Can you believe there once was a time when women wore GAP dresses as accepted work attire?

I can see the Trump commercial now. Split screen, left side, Bill Clinton speaking last night about the lovely ‘girl’ that he met and fell in love with. Right side of the screen, one photo after another of Monica Lewinsky ending with the “Impeached” headline. It’s fascinating when you confront people so smart, and so stupid, all at once.
