We need to raise the voting age to 35.

Better yet, make it a window: 35-65.

The last time I was in the White House the talk was about how to spend the budget surplus.

Why would Bill fuck up? He’s made some of the most memorable speeches of any Conventions.

Afterwards... yeah, he could fuck up. But not tonight on live TV.

Bill is awesome when he’s campaigning for people who are not his wife. His speech at the 2008 DNC for Obama was justifiably memorable.

But for some reason (maybe unconscious sabotage or just an emotional inability to keep his cool when it comes to Hillary), he fucks up when campaigning for her. That’s why media are sharpening their knives waiting for his speech.

Maybe. But tonight, I’m sure Hillary had final cut for his speech.

Me too. I am a bad judge of who will win the Presidency. Saw him speak in 2000. Thought, “Wow, I just saw the next PotUS! Amazing, charming, witty speaker, a pre-Obama if you will.” Then the scream. Still dig that cool cat though.

      Then the scream.

I still don’t understand what the hell the big deal was. But yeah - he’s a cool cat. It’s nice when people can mock themselves, especially when it’s in the service of the greater good. And I think Dean has always been, and still is, a true believer in the greater good.

Can we take odds on how many women Clinton sexually assaults during his speech? I hope they’re hiding America Ferrera.

You do realize that it isn’t assault if it’s consensual, right?

The Democratic Party is tougher than that.

I think the bigger problem is Gawker and other publications aimed at younger people cultivating deep cynicism and apathy in them. That IS harmful.

It’s the unearned cynicism of the young that kills me. It’s the difference between Dr Faust at the beginning of the play, after a long life and a brilliant medical career crying in despair “Now do I see that I can nothing know!” versus some kid whose greatest disappointment in life so far was not getting a bid when she rushed Kappa third semester sighing and saying “Dude, news is such bullshit if you think about it, you know? Fuck politics, my dreams won’t fit in a ballot box!”

Someone, please please please, make a split-screen video of that teleprompter synched up with Bill Clinton’s actual speech.

What he said was only partially related to what was written down. More than half that speech was ad-libbed. I’m in awe, frankly. Oh my god, what oratory talent.

Pretty much did the same thing in 2012. And in a 1993 joint session of congress, when his TelePrompTer showed the wrong speech, he recited the details of his health care plan from memory. They called Reagan “The Great Communicator” but I think that title better fits Bill Clinton.
