Um....Bernie did what he had to do and did a good job, BUT Michelle Obama won the night, the convention and probably the election for Hillary.

THE best speech yet given in this election cycle by anyone and what an impossible act to follow for Bernie, but he laid out the reality for his people and made it clear he expects them to help him stop the Trumpocalypse.

Michelle absolutely OWNED the evening and may have done more to help Hillary than anyone has yet done for her campaign.

Which voters do you imagine will be making their decisions based on Michelle Obama’s convention speech?

After Bernie’s speech, one thing is clear: If you don’t vote Hillary, you are not a Bernie supporter.

    That’s it.

      100% true.

I supported Bernie and voted for him in my state and am going to vote for Hillary. The way Bernie spoke about her last night was surreal. He painted a picture of her that I didn’t know existed. She is not part of the elite like I thought she was. She’s just like Bernie. A working mom, a grandmother, and a human being. My opinion of Hillary has totally changed and, to be honest, if I knew what I know about her now I probably would have voted for her over Bernie. She is such a powerful woman with a delightful character. I would be proud to call her my president.

There was a very popular comment last night in the Sarah Silverman article that got me thinking about what’s happening at this convention and with Bernie’s movement.

Bernie owns this fractured party - this comment posits - because he refused to stop fighting and kept pushing toward the convention, even when he had no legitimate path to win.

Legitimate path to win is an interesting phrase. Did Bernie ever have a legitimate path to win? We say DWS “thumbed the scale,” but is that really what she and the DNC did?

In a scenario where the DNC were willing to go as far as needed to ensure Clinton was nominated - as far as criticising Bernie on his religious views, disgusting - that’s not thumbing the scale.

And if the DNC gaslighted the Sanders campaign the whole way, claiming a fair fight and a real shot at the presidency...

How can Sanders be blamed for continuing to push? Clandestinely undermined by his own allies, how could he be expected to see the situation as it really was?

This is the face of a beaten man - beaten by those he trusted - who must now sell his soul to achieve a small measure of the success that might have been possible for his ideas and beliefs.

We won’t see another candidate like this for a long time. Thank you Bernie, I wish we were good enough to deserve how hard you worked for us.

Not beaten, no. If Clinton *was* going to win all along, then the biggest victory possible—in the short term—was a relatively progressive platform, which we have. But long term, if there is to be any kind of genuine revolution, this can’t have been about Bernie—and it certainly can’t be going forward. He’s inspired a lot of otherwise cynical and apathetic people; if they mobilize, there are a lot of local and statewide political offices to win. And if they do, it creates a genuine base from which many more candidates with his progressive bona fides can run for national office.

An internal email floating the idea of using religion as a club (which is terrible) is not the same as actually using it as a club. There’s a legitimate gripe with the debate schedule. That’s all I can really say. But in the end, he got crushed. It wasn’t the DNC’s fault. Bernie’s spokesperson even said as much.

Poor Bernie. Now he’s going to have to spend the next three months actively stumping for Clinton to undo all the damage he did during the primary by staying in the race and screaming “FIX”.

I’d never seen him speak for that long, and I was surprised by how bored I got. Everyone cheered for him really loud so I guess I am in the minority. Or maybe everyone else was also excited he was wrapping up?

You’re not alone. I like Bernie, but yeah he should understand less is more. He’s just to earnest to leave an important point out, but it can undercut the message. I didn’t last night was quite as bad as when I went to one of his rallies.

I think he knows that was his last chance to give his full platform to a large audience, so he tried to check every box. But yeah, it got kind of boring by the end.

Watching all those crying faces of Bernie supporters last night really gave me a rage-induced stroke. Rabid Bernie fans have always struck a nerve and I could never really explain my disdain for them, still can’t. The ones with tape over their mouths really got to me, especially in the aftermath of Michelle Obama’s amazing speech. Not too long ago, there were actually millions of Americans silenced, their voices stifled and they couldn’t vote. To be at the DNC, protesting the nominee with tape over your mouth while your candidates endorses the nominee is a freaking privilege and it pisses me off.

Really? People who are strongly dedicated to a belief system, and movement, gave you a “rage-induced stroke”? They’re sad to see who they felt was the last honest politician, for awhile, ride off into the sunset. Sure, he’ll probably serve one more term in the Senate. But what he did, as far as the Dem party goes, will be felt for years to come. He has more transforming power than Hillary could ever hope for.

His speech was powerful and honest. It took a while for him to get to the pivot, but he needed to take the extra time. My respect for Sanders is renewed.

That said, I went to bed right after he spoke. How batshit crazy were the ‘Bots on the convention floor? And has someone checked on Sarandon?
