Glad we ignored 1,000 years of history and invaded the place. American exceptionalism at it’s most delusional, destructive phase.

So, by your logic, the West should sit back and take it, right?

They’re kind of like Trump in that regard. Let other people do everything, then take credit for all of it.

But don’t worry Afghan refugees — the EU has decided that you’re all actually economic migrants, and your country is safe enough to be deported back to!

Europe’s well on its way to being minority Christian even without accepting any refugees.

I was deployed to a Hazara region of Afghanistan. They are truly lovely people who have demonstrated unbelievable resilience in the face of a centuries-long extermination campaign by Sunni Pashtuns.

Mullah Omar’s stated vision for Afghanistan included genocide of the Hazara. I can’t imagine the Taliban are too broken up about this, despite their disavowal of responsibility.

Also, Hazaras were some of the nicest people I met when I worked at a refugee camp in Greece. They’d all been really pro-American after the 2001 invasion, and many of them had benefited from the efforts to involve minorities in the new Afghan government and civil service. But after the political situation deteriorated, their newfound success was seen as suspect by larger ethnic groups, and they became increasingly targeted.

Meanwhile, most Americans don’t know that people who look like this even exist at all in Afghanistan, even after we’ve been active there for fifteen years. These pics are from a google search, but when I posted photos of some Hazara people I talked to in Greece, a few idiots claimed that these were clearly “Chinese trying to sneak into Europe.”

A mutually intelligible dialect of Dari, which is itself the version of Persian spoken in Afghanistan.

Such an awful tragedy. But it’s really been a touching show of humanity and empathy to see all the Afghan flag profile pic filters going up on Facebook.

When I go to the bathroom in the morning and there is piss in the toilet, I forget about it two seconds later.

Now if I go downstairs to make breakfast in the morning and there’s a steamer right on the kitchen table, now I am alarmed.

I didn’t realize the Sea Shepherds direct action team had access to the Internet during their important missions to interdict oil tankers, stop the dolphin hunt in Taiiji and clean up the garbage gyre in the middle of the Pacific. Thanks for taking care of that all before 14:00 EDT, and, oh, also, putting out the wildfires in California too, all while making this crucial sociological observation! You rock.

They actually don’t claim credit for everything, and there are things they almost certainly did do that they never take credit for, which is surprisingly typical of terrorist groups.

As soon as the Taliban legalized gay marriage, ISIS reacted and not very positive.
