I have to say, that was extremely cold-blooded of Trump to do that.

I really used to believe that this was just an act. Trump saw an opening and exploited it. That he really wasn’t this monster.

But I don’t believe that anymore. Monsters are real.

Nonsense. Gutting Ted Cruz like the slimey hagfish he is was the greatest gift Trump has given this country.

I don’t think Trump sees it as cold blooded, it’s still for laffs and he loves shouting at people anyway. He’s reality TV stock after all.

The derangement of the Republican Party is complete. And it is beautiful. They are ready to put to the sword anyone who dares deviate from the party line. And the party line is whatever the Donald says it is.

Headline, night one: Melania Trump’s plagiarism

Headline, night two: Trump campaign denies plagiarism

Headline, night three: Cruz stabs Trump in the back

Headline, night four: Who knows? We can only dream

Conventions are supposed to build momentum for the candidate. I don’t know what the fuck this was, but so far it looks like a trainwreck.

I hate how the plagiarism story completely overshadowed a Republican, Steve King, openly admitting that the republican party represents White Supremacy on national television....

That is a much bigger bombshell (to white people) than a little bit of stolen speech.

Night four — FEC opening investigation into Trump Campaign for unlawful coordination with Trump Organization, re: Meredith McIver. Or Meredith McIver doesn’t exist? (It make me sound cuckoo — but I’m not convinced. One picture on the whole fucking internet???) ORRRRRr….Trump plagiarizes Richard Nixon.

His refusal to endorse Trump is pretty much the only positive thing I can say about Cruz - I begrudgingly respect him for it.

So when Ted goes back to his hotel room tonight, what soup flavor do you think he’s prepared for this moment? I’m betting he brought along an extra-special can. A flavor he only eats at the darkest moment. My guess is chicken and stars.

Ted won’t be eating tonight. He’ll be kneeling in his hotel room in front of Lloyd Blankfein’s holographic image getting his ass chewed out.

I disagree. I don’t think Cruz was humiliated. Years from now he will be running this moment in a million campaign ads touting himself as a man who stood up against a tyrant.

Jesus, I’m defending Ted Cruz. What the fuck is happening?

The other day I was defending Mitt Romney as someone who has a conscience. WTF!!!

I want to go back to the normal word. Bizarro world is very, very unsettling. If I start defending Ann Coulter tomorrow I am officially turning off the damn TV.

Oh, come on. I hate everything about Ted Cruz, but there are two reasons why this wasn’t the worst night in his life (and why those of us who hate him shouldn’t be enjoying all that much schadenfreude).

The first is that it was a calculated move, hedging against a Trump loss, and I’m sure he’ll skip no opportunity to remind everyone, over and over between now and 2020, how he refused to compromise his principles and support the man who submarines the GOP. He’s a slimy, gutless piece of shit, but he’s not stupid. He knew exactly what would happen if he said anything other than “vote for Trump who is the best person ever!” When the crowd started getting really angry, I honestly thought the look on his face was more, “wow, I was expecting much worse than this.”

The second reason is that he is a lizard person, and does not have the capacity to feel shame or humiliation.

Regardless, the story from tonight was supposed to be the GOP’s shiny new super-normal non-insane VP pick, but now the story will be Ted Cruz instead.

Yeah, I think this is a pretty baller move on Cruz’s part, even masterful. He’s playing a long game and knows very well that Trump is losing in November. The rats will be escaping from a ship that Ted was never on.

And while his principled stance will get him into the good will of the Republican think tank circle jerk it won’t do him much good with the primary voters who weren’t interested in what that lot has been peddling for years. Ted Cruz’s problem wasn’t that he couldn’t generate money, it’s that he’s not electable. To borrow a bit from a well known politician in Britain he’s got the charisma of a damp rag and the look of a low grade ambulance chaser.

Not sure. Loyalty matters a lot to Republican voters, especially primary voters. Not to mention donors. That’s why so many Republicans are making their peace, publicly, with Trump. Because the appearance of loyalty matters.

Cruz has basically taken the main stage of GOP events and come away having failed the party.

It almost makes you feel sorry for the guy. Almost.

Not even a little bit. A first generation immigrant whose dad literally just showed up (running from a revolution he himself supported) and was granted immediate amnesty and is now calling for deportations of other immigrants in even more life threatening situations deserves sympathy from no one.

    He is pure scum.

Which is the beauty of this. Cruz is so hard pressed to remain a scummy piece o shit, that he refuses to relent. It’s amazing. I cannot believe they let him speak thinking that he would hold the line with their desires. Idiots.
