“You get in the way, because you want to see what’s going on. But nothing’s happening, and you just make things worse.”

Translation: “It sucks when people with cameras and a platform for their footage are around cops during protests.”

And really, if nothing’s happening - what is there to make worse?

It’s almost like the media’s job is to capture what is happening and report it to the people, or something.

Flag burning is protected speech, but I’m pretty sure setting things on fire in the middle of a large crowd is still considered a safety issue.

Three of you made this exact same faux-intelligent comment here, and seemingly starred each other. I find that very amusing.

I take it you believe it is both legal and safe to start fires in a crowd?

Everyone is talking about what the officer said but not about the actual event. That is the real issue here. Americans burning their own flag. These people are pieces of shit who deserve to be shown the door out of this country.

*Guns don’t keep people safe! We have the police for that!

*The police are racist and prevent the media from doing their job!

This is what you get. This is a moment in time we will look back upon in the next decade or two once our police forces have been completely federalized. Have you seen the tanks they drive around? The robots they kill people with?

And yet for all the crying you do, most readers support a person for president who will continue to concentrate federal power in the executive branch. And for all the crying you do, SOME of us shake our heads when you can’t do stories on those mentally ill individuals who shot up those same police officers, but you’ll do a story and a half with a picture of some white supremacist wannabe who shot up a bunch of blacks because he’s racist and mentally ill.

You see how they reacted. They won’t back down. They blew him up with a fucking ROBOT.

    Ignoring it won’t solve it.

Can anyone here name a president who didn't try to consolidate power in the executive?

Literally every excuse for HRC actions is: “Its okay guys! Other people have done it!”

      Not very compelling.

But I will bite and reply that most presidents before the era of FDR and Wilson and again during the era of a paranoid Nixon and Reagan generally did not.

“You media guys are worse than the protestors,” one Cleveland police officer said, after Gawker asked what a woman, handcuffed and sitting in the back of a police van, had been arrested for. “You get in the way, because you want to see what’s going on. But nothing’s happening, and you just make things worse.”

Hopefully that woman doesn’t end up with a broken neck at the end of that “van ride”.

Right? It’s like I find it tough to imagine that some GIF spamming Americans still have difficulty distinguishing between socialism and communism.

I live in Cleveland, right on the other side of downtown, in Tamir Rice’s neighborhood. My experiences with police officers on my street alone is similar: little communication, disregard for talking to nearby citizens about what is happening. Twice in the past three years there have been officers on my street with guns drawn, they refuse to tell us what’s happening, don’t answer questions when I walk up directly to talk to them, and eventually just leave still without talking to anyone who was looking out of their windows or standing on their porches. Not really the same as not being nice to journalists, but felt like ranting a little.
