Sounds like Donald prefers the parliamentary system, where he can be a figurehead El Presidente while others do all the work. Makes sense, I guess, except that we don’t have a parliamentary system and our president has lots of powers and responsibilities.

We can’t outsource the responsibilities though? In the sharing economy, why can’t the presidency just become another app? Like SnapPrez or PrezimonGo?

Exactly. Back in a May interview with HuffPost, Paul Manafort said,

“He needs an experienced person to do the part of the job he doesn’t want to do. He seems himself more as the chairman of the board, than even the CEO, let alone the COO.”

So if Trump won, we’d have an orange supremacist idiot representing us on the world stage while a bigoted theocrat actually ran the country, a GOP-run Congress to make sure their insane agenda were passed with lightning speed, and a Heritage-approved Supreme Court justice to ensure those laws would be upheld for a generation.

If this were true, why the fuck would any sane person turn it down? Trump is the most progressive GOP nominee in history (these baseless adjectives of “bigot” and “racist” are so overused and easily addressed that they’re basically meaningless - if you don’t believe me look at the recent polls... Trump is going to win regardless), and clearly was willing to be tamed by a rational and helpful administrator like Kasich. Methinks this is more sour grapes than anything - that would have been a dream setup for both Trump and Kasich.

Because Trump is a fucking bullshitter lying machine. Of course he wouldn’t keep his word! Nor is he capable of delegating at all. He is the ultimate micromanager.

Donald wants to be in charge of being called Mr. President, having everyone stand when he enters a room, and having the most exclusive address in the country on his business card.

    That’s all Cheetoh Jesus wants.

You folks just have no idea how puerile you sound - complaining, whining, accusing, finger-pointing, etc .

I understand some right-wing conservatives are ass-hats and it’s not fun when you don’t get what you want, and especially when someone you really hate seems impervious to your attacks, but seriously... think of your own dignity people. At some point you gotta base the attacks on substance and not just quips about hair, the color orange, poop, and false characterizations of homophobia.

give it up, Dude. Only your own credibility is affected.

To be fair, he also wants to be the judge of the 1st Annual National Wet T-Shirt & Hot Dog Eating Contest, and to oversee the construction of the New Flavian Amphitheater.

Damn, this just got real for me.

I assumed there were procedures in place that essentially limited the VP’s power, but if Trump could delegate policy decisions to Pence, that is truly frightening.

I assumed there were procedures in place that essentially limited the VP’s power.

The VP’s only constitutional power is of course breaking ties in the Senate, and assuming the presidency when the president is dead or incapacitated.

But the VP also has whatever powers the President delegates to him, so if President Trump wants to make VP Pence the de facto head of government and minister plentipotentiary for foreign policy, there’s nothing stopping him.

Donald Trump doesn’t give up anything. I wouldn’t trust him to give me herpes.

Look at his history in the construction business. There’s a long list of people who sued Trump for not paying. Look at his bankruptcies. There’s a long list of creditors who Trump didn’t pay. Look at his foreign debt strategy - let’s just not pay them.

Look at his two failed marriages. His failed partnerships.

Trump doesn’t keep promises. And if Kasich thought for a millisecond that Trump would pay up on this deal, then he’d be the dumbest man in history.

It would be dumber than Caesar giving Brutus a set of steak knives.

Same thought here. I don’t get the people that are interpreting this as a serious offer. What would Kasich have done when Trump decided he didn’t feel like working that way? Used the massive constitutional power of the office of Vice President to wrest control from the Trumpenfuhrer?

I also think, in the unlikely (but not unfathomable) event he is elected, Trump will go through multiple VPs.

And to think I got yelled at the other day when posting the quote where he said it was okay for Pence to be wrong about Iraq but not Hillary. “They’re not running for the same job” someone told me.

    Apparently they are.

Why wouldn’t Kasich confirm this to be true? After Trump shit on him during the convention wouldn’t this give Jughead a springboard towards the nomination in 2020?

This story came from an “unnamed Kasich advisor” - that means the story is intentionally coming from the Kasich camp, with deniability attached just in case(ick).
